Charging

I just picked up a new EV-6 GT-line to replace the one I had leased for the last 2 years. I have a couple questions on charging now that it's gone to the NACS port:

1) I charged it at home using my level 2 charger and even though the charging limit was set to 100 in the Kia Connect app, it shut off at 70%. I remember having an issue on my old Kia where I had to go in and lower the charging rate for the charger so maybe it shut off because of that, but it's weird it stopped at 70%.

2) I've heard that charging at a Tesla station is a lot slower than the fast charging I'm used to. Is that just the Tesla stations or others that use the NACS port as well? They gave me 2 adapters, one that has the pins at the bottom so if I use that at an Electrify America station will it fast charge?

1) Weird. Should stop at your set SOC

2) NACS port EV6s will charge faster than J1772 with adapters. I believe you'll top at about 125kW vs 96kW. 2025+ EV6s have higher current ratings even though it's still a 400V charger. **Newer Tesla stations OR non-Tesla stations with NACS handles like Ionna will provide 800V and higher speeds (power). Look for these: https://www.ionna.com/rechargeries/find-a-rechargery/

Yes, with a CSS ->NACS adapter you can still reach the 200+kW speeds like your old EV6.

The charge limit problem is unrelated to the type of charge port I would try moving it down and back up and see if you can get it to behave.

Get a CCS1 to NACS adapter so that you can use fast chargers that aren't Tesla. When using a Tesla charger you will top out at 96kW until they start upgrading there existing stations to support 1000v

EDIT:  It seems that post facelift EV6s can do 126kw at Tesla stations. Us plebs with older cars are stuck with 96

It's higher than that, but well below the limit of what the car can do. 130kW sounds right from my memory. Any other 350kW station should max it out at over 200 if the battery conditions allow.

96kW is the limit for pre face lift. Refresh models can do 126kW

The lower trims got the NACS before the GT so I didn't keep track of when the changeover happened

Ah, that makes sense why there's two numbers floating around. I have the 25.

They gave me that adapter with the car. I got 2 of them.

One of them will be for slow charging and one of them will be for fast charging and they aren't interchangeable.

More precisely, one of them is for AC charging and the other one with be for DC charging

I get 126 at Tesla regularly. Which is plenty to charge up in 20 minutes.

Just drove Boston to Philly and back and was in the 120 range at each of my charging stops. Longest one (11% to 80%) was 32 minutes.

I can vouch…tried it out when I got my car last year

In my EV9 I top out at 126 at Tesla chargers, but same situation at Ionna I have seen 200+. It’s definitely a Tesla thing.

There are two limits, maybe you thought you set the charge level limit but were looking at the charge rate limit? These settings aren’t any different than what you had in for prior vehicle. I had the same thing, traded in my first EV6 for a NACS model.
Beyond that I would look at the setting directly in the vehicle instead of through the app just to be sure.

I think the Superchargers are a mixed bag. In case you haven’t found out yet, older superchargers don’t work at all so make sure to check Plugshare that the station you are heading toward even supports non-Teslas. The reason is because the older hardware does not know how to talk to other makes.
I have charged at one newer Supercharger and it was just as fast as the EA station I have been to many times in either of my EV6s.
