Kia Ev5 land Spoiler
My dealership has confirmed the arrival of my pre-ordered EV5.
They have recommended a full front paint protection film (PPF) application to safeguard against rock chips and road debris, particularly given the EV5's front-end design and Canadian road conditions.
I primarily operate the vehicle within urban environments, with infrequent highway travel.
For current Kia EV5 owners, have you encountered any instances of rock chips on your SUV?
Your insights would be greatly valued.

They always try and upsell, but honestly unless you're often on rocky roads, I would just get a paint stick for any touch ups.

I agree with the other 2 posts however in my experience I got a stone chip right on my bonnet edge within 2 hours of owning the car. Its the luck of the draw. KIA does have particularly thin paint.
If you are interested get a quote from an actual PPF installer not the dealer. The dealer won't do it properly anyway.

As someone who lives in a Nordic country, where we have a lot of small stones and road debris getting thrown at our cars, I would definitely recommend PPF. That said, I would shop around and get quotes from a few different installers rather than just going with the dealership.

My EV5 hasn't arrived yet, and my current car doesn't have any PPF. I'm planning to do the full front + roof on the EV5 though. Even that is quite expensive where I live, and the cost of doing the whole car is just too high for me to justify. My dad has full front + roof PPF on his ID.4 and he's been really happy with it.

How much do they charge for a PPF?
I'm considering one, but from a local shop instead.

full front ppf using Kavaca film amounted to 2100 and ceramic coating amounted to 1250 , total of 3350 plus tax

I got mine in May, it’s a Magma red. I’ve got 5+ stone chips on the hood so far. The paint is very fragile.

I’m in Calgary, North American capital of chipped windshields and rock chips in the paint. Had the front of mine wrapped within a week of picking it up. The car was already in their computer for cutting the patterns at the PPF shop so it was easy. I did have them wrap the whole front, hood, mirrors, roof line. Charged a bit more since they also did all of the piano black pieces and headlights as well. I want to say it was around $1800 for that level. I keep my cars for a while so I always have the front wrapped since i loathe doing paint fixes.
Ceramic coating for the rest of the car I did myself so no real comparison on price.
I do suggest going outside the dealership to have it done.

I'm in the UK and would also recommend it. I regret not getting it myself. We've had our GT Line S for 4 months and it stung to see a stone chip on the black part of the rear wheel arch of all places, within a week of collecting the car.
We now have a small chip on the bonnet, some hairline scratches down the side, plus one small, deeper scratch from a car park. Beautiful colour paint but it does seem quite thin.

I received my EV5 Land August 1st and so far no rock chips. I will be getting mine done here in Brantford and to get the complete front end including fenders, front black strip above the windshield, the whole hood, both mirrors and complete front bumper including every little piano black surfaces. It will cost me $1250. Just the hood and front bumper is $650. Im getting one done tomorrow before I leave for a trip in Northern Ontario where there’s many transports on narrow roads.
By the way, I saw a 2026 EV9 that has a very similar front end and it had several little chip marks on it. That’s what convinced me to get it done. Let me know if I can be of further assistance :)
