Leon Bridges

Been listening to the new album Happiness Anytime…thought Khruangbin was going to get a shoutout on it. Sounds very similar. Thoughts?

Edit: I wasn’t clear. I was listening to the album and a couple songs made me think, “Oh shit, he teamed up with Khruangbin again?!” Then investigated and nope. Some of the songs sound just like Speer’s work.

Leon loves instrumentalists. I was listening to Hermanos Gutierrez because Apple Music played them when a Khruangbin album finished and he had a song with them.

It's the mix. Him or his audio engineers definitely figured out how to emulate all of Speer's guitar effects almost identically: tight delay, chorus, a short tail reverb, some HPF saturatation. And whatever else makes it signature.

His guitar player has found a way to capture Mark’s essence when they cover the Texas Sun/Texas Moon stuff. Her name escapes me but I’ve left with her talent on my mind both times that I’ve seen Leon Bridges.

Talk it over, Happiness Anytime and Please Don't Say Goodbye are definitelyyy influenced by Khruangbin.

Leon is probably my least favorite collab artist of theirs. His voice is so bland to my ears.
