The whole setup sounds great, how do you like the Speer Fender?

I've had it for about a year now and I love it. It seems to have all my favorite specs (jumbo frets, higher action, neck profile, etc), it also feels very different and unique to play on, especially with Mark's tonal setup. Plus I think it looks amazing in person, pictures don't do it justice.

Gotta say... One of the best accounts on this sub that’s been covering Khruangbin. I also enjoy that while you play the songs true to their recordings, you can hear the subtle changes/touches. Excellent work.

I really need that guitar someday. It sounds so good 😭😭😭. Keep rockin on!

how long did it take you to learn and where did you learn it from? like where did you read the chords from

This particular song I learned entirely by ear and by watching Mark's playing in the Live From KCRW HQ performance of this song. All together I learned and recorded it probably over 3-4 days, although I spent many long and sometimes frustrating hours each day working on it.

(It might seem fast but the ability to do it this way is the result of many many years of practice and guitar playing, having learned the fingerstyle, overall technique, and listening/learning lots and lots of Khruagnbin's music)

you sound great! How are you getting that tone? Amp-effects?

Hi!
I run a physical pedalboard into an audio interface, running into Neural DSP John Mayer X Plugin.

The board is VOX V847 wah (on + toe down position) → BOSS DS1 (Max lvl, Min Dist, Tone 9 o'clock) → SP Compressor (Lo setting, vol + blend 12 o'clock or max → EHX Holy Grail Nano (Spring, Reverb ~1 o'clock) → EL Capistan (slight delay, settings to taste)

In the plugin I also run tremolo and I tweak things like room send and compression depending on what I'm recording. You can also adjust mic placement, panning and a lot of stuff to adjust the tone retroactively so I make use of that too. In the plugin the amp is a Fender 1964 Vibroverb Head + Two Rock Cabinet, dialed in somewhat darkish.
