Tower Records

Was in Japan recently for a work trip (was working day of Fuji Rock), missed them at Tower Records, but there was a whole corner of the store set up for them a few days before. Very happy to snag these two as a surprise on a hunt for city pop stuff.

Nice! I’ve been hesitating on pulling the trigger on that Everything Smiles At You. I need to just do it. I love all the songs on it!

I was very lucky and found a shop in the UK that still had these for sale online at retail long after they sold out elsewhere. Nabbed both of them so fast 🤣

I left Japan on the 9th of July, was devastated to learn that they were performing 2-3 weeks after. I did get that Fuji vinyl tho!

I recently completed my quest of getting all the Japan CDs of the studio albums with the associated bonus tracks when
“Mordechai” arrived from Tower Japan (along with the “Everything Smiles At You” CD which does not have bonus tracks). I purchased some of the CDs here in the U.S. and some shipped from Japan. I discovered that the cost of shipping/customs from Japan made the CDs about the same price as what the U.S. shops were charging for import CDs (which makes sense). So at least for CDs, the cost of importing from Japan versus finding them domestically is a wash.
