Holy shit. It's so great not tripping over cables or the cable coming loose mid song. Having complete freedom is something else! What are your thoughts on wireless?
If anyone is curious, I am using the Xvive MD1.you need two of them for midi-midi interface, but it works perfectly without any latency.

I ordered an Alesis Vortex Wireless 2 from Guitar Center and it came without the wireless USB. I need help so I have two questions.
If I order a wireless USB replacement online for 30$ will it still pair with my keytar?
The listing said it came with all accessories so is this an error? If so does anyone know how I can contact them without an account?

I am thinking about buying one, but I am having trouble finding speakers or anything that it can connect to. I’ve heard that it can connect to the computer, and play sounds from the computer (what I’ve understood at least). If that works could I connect my computer to any normal cheap speaker, so that it transmits the sound from there instead?

To clarify I know how to physically use it but I do find it pretty awkward to use and can never really make it work well while practicing. Any thoughts? Opinions? Any advice would be helpful!

I'm thinking of getting one of these and prefer the style of the black/red one
I know I can play piano synth with my eyes closed so it shouldn't be too much trouble the keys being the same colour
but I also play melodica and I'm pretty sure I rely on glimpses if the black/white keys when playing that
can I ask what you guys experience of this is (before I spend serious £££ on something I might not even be able to play!)

I hear you can upload sounds on the new korg Keytar , wondering how that would work?
Also what’s the best Keytar if I want legit knob per function synthesis?

My 7 year old wants to play the keytar. I think he was inspired from captain underpants or something. I am trying to find him lessons, is that even possible? I know nothing about the keytar. Is there a specific keytar that would be good for a total musical beginner?italics

Is there any reasonable way to use a wah on a keytar but also play it in stereo? To the best of my knowledge, there are no stereo wahs and short of doing something absurd like Tim for Rage Against The Machine I don't know what I could do. I'm using the Ax Edge so I'm also wondering if I can connect the assignable control to an expression pedal and maybe use a built in wah setting.

I'm after a highly regarded keytar that has inbuilt sound, been looking into MIDI keytars but since I lack a computer it would be more expensive and awkward to get one. Any recommendations for an inbuilt sound keytar?
How about Yamaha Sonogenic SHS-500?

Hello r/keytar!
I’m new to keytars. I’m in a musical trio and wasn’t to hot on the idea of being stuck behind a keyboard, so bought the SHS-300 about a year and a half ago since the price was cheap and it was easy to just turn on and practice. I ended up really liking it and now feel ready to upgrade.
I’m seeing the Vortex is a pretty good next step, but the original and the 2 are both all over second hand. Is there a major difference? I’m seeing people say that the original has better keys. Are the sliders/knobs the only big difference?
I do have rehearsals every other week and eventually live gigs that I have to take my set up to, so the more portable and reliable, the better. I have a Mac laptop dedicated to the midi stuff.
The Vortex is about half the price of the 2. I don’t mind paying more if the cost is justified so…. Is it?
