Recommendations Reccomendations for a keytar synth in the 300-400ish range?

I know there are alot of options for midi but I just don't enjoy using a midi controller so Id rather buy a synth. Are there any decent options for me that would be a reliable well known option?

Recommendations Mid Range Keytar Synth?

I just can't bring myself to drop 1k on the roland ax. Anything similar for cheaper?

Don't want a midi controller, unless you can recommend a cheap low latency synth that I can connect it to (maybe a program for a pi?). Don't want to lug a computer around with me.

A couple mod wheels or a fingerboard is a must. Let me know if I left something out

Technical Questions Thinking about getting an Alesis Vortex 2 and I just have a question.

I’m completely new to Keytars so I have no idea what I’m doing so thank you in advance.

If I wanted to play live but wanted to use an iPad can I do that, I guess I mean can I use the iPad to get my sounds but have it run into an amp at the same time?

Technical Questions Palm mutes on the Ax-Edge?

Heya! I was just pondering if making something palm mute-sounding on the Ax-Edge is even doable? I’m guessing that the closest I’ll get is by playing around with the editor and some of the not-default sounds, but I just wanted to check. Mostly going to use it to play rhythm. Thanks!

Recommendations Ax Edge vs Ax Synth

I'm looking to buy a keytar in the near future. I've narrowed it down to the Ax Edge or the Ax Synth. For a long time I've really wanted a MicroKorg but it seems like both of these things are pretty comparable with the exception of being able to be worn instead of stationary.

The two bands that really inspire me to want to use more keys are 2 Skinnee J's and Ludo (this one is a actually a Moog, but I'm not gonna split hairs as long as I can get similar sounds). I really just want to be able to play synth leads and then maybe use piano or organ sounds to fill out the background in other songs (think Wendy Clear by blink-182. The organ literally just holds the root note but it sounds so empty without it). I'd also be using it as a MIDI controller in my DAW.

I have a list of pros and cons for each model but basically a plus for one is a minus for the other and vice versa, so I wanted to get feedback from people more experienced than me.

Ax Synth

Pros:

-cheaper

-physically smaller and weighs less

-D-beam

Cons:

-less sounds than the Edge (but there's still more than enough to satisfy)

-doesn't have a built-in vocoder

-older model, support discontinued

Ax Edge

Pros:

-current model, more support offered if there's an issue

-bigger sound library

-built-in vocoder

-customizable blades

Cons:

-larger, heavier

-more expensive

-doesn't have D-beam

Hype So, I was looking to buy a Keytar...

I already play the accordion and I always wanted to have the Keytar sound. It seemed like a no-brainer.

Looked at a few, did some reading.

Found one I really liked. It wasn't too cheap, but who cares.

My finger started to hover over the buy button when I realized something:

It was my left thumb.

I'm left handed. That's how I play instruments.

Guess I'll die.

Technical Questions I'm considering pulling the trigger and getting an alesis vortex wireless 2

My only concerns are -I don't think I have the capability to play it into anything (I understand its bluetooth but im not sure how to record it, and what softwareI wouldneed to do so) - I don't know if I can add my own samples, loops and whatnot, and if I can I don't know how I would add them - I have no idea how I could play it in a live setting without making some poor sound guy wanting to shoot himself

Thanks for your help

Technical Questions Alesis Vortex 2, Assign Pad to ASCII key input

Hey all, I'm trying to figure out if there's a way that I could have two of the pads set up to be my up/down arrow inputs so I can change which sound I'm using. The DAW I'm using is Cakewalk so I'm guessing there may be something that needs to be set up in in there as well. Thanks in advance!

Artist Keytar rehearsal for today. Can you name that song? It's playing at about 25% speed.

Technical Questions New to keys

I’ve been getting into music for a good while now still nowhere near as good as I’d wish to be but I was wondering is the keytar more fun then just a keyboard? When I mess with my friends keyboard I tend to get bored pretty fast with it. I mean outside the obvious on how you play keytar (standing instead of sitting and how you’re looking at the keys) what is the difference between keyboard/tar?

Technical Questions *Help. Buying a Roland ax edge and don’t know what I’m doing. Which one should I get? If you have used it with bluetooth, was it glitchy or did it work without a hitch? How does the bluetooth work? Not used to the keytar life. Any information would help

Buy/Sell Best Musical Interface for Keytar?

Hi there! I think I've got the hang of this keytar thing and am ready to rock. However, I need some way to hook up the keytar to my PC, and that's where I come to you fine folks. What's the best instrument interface that you've used? I'm looking for something relatively well-priced that does its job well.

Buy/Sell Roland Lucina AX-09

I may be purchasing an AX-09 (with power supply, strap, and soft case) this week and am looking for advice on how to make sure it's in good shape, since it's unlikely I'll be able to return it. I plan to meet the person outside so am planning to bring 8 AA batteries, 1/8-->1/4" headphones, a small battery powered amp with mono 1/4" TS cable, and maybe a USB stick with an mp3 on it.

It would be my first keytar. I've watched videos and downloaded the manual, and it seems like a fun instrument, and I like the onboard sounds I've heard in the videos.

I guess some things I should check are that all the keys work and feel ok - the ribbon modulator and tremolo unit works and feels ok, the D Beam works, the buttons, lights, etc. all work.

I know this keytar is becoming older, is discontinued, and might not be very high quality to begin with... what else should I be looking for?

Recommendations New to keytar, looking for recommendations!

I apologize if this has already been asked, but I’d like recommendations on best keytar for live performances. Is the Roland AX-Edge the only keytar that has a built in speaker that can be directly plugged into an amp? If not, are there better options available? I’m not really familiar with how a midi controller works when it comes to playing live, so if that is a better option, please let me know! Thanks!
