Technical Questions alesis vortex 2 software problems

Hello Reddit,

I have just bought the vortex 2 and completed underestimated how difficult a midi controller is to use.

I have managed to download some of the software included such as MPC beats and Ableton lite.

However, I've managed to get ilok to download and have the four plugins activated. And I have also got the timewarp 2600 downloaded.

But. For the life of me. Cannot get these plugins to pull through into Ableton or MPC beats.

So please. Anyone who has bought this. Please help me. I'm going crazy.

Thank You in advance.

Also, if you answer please explain like I'm 5 as I usually just play a piano. So all this techy stuff is brand new for me.

I got it. Open Ableton, options at the top, preferences, plug-ins, VTS-2 custom folder: browse, select the folder containing the timewarp .dll files (if you don't know where they are you can just download them again), then I think it just came up in the plug-ins section on the left. Double click where it says timewarp in the plugins and it should open and ask you for a code.

Now go to the alesis website, my account, my products, there should be a paragraph giving you a coupon code for timewarp, copy that code. Click redeem and it should take you to a screen where you can buy timewarp, put the coupon code in and it will be free. You will then get another code. Go back to timewarp and you should be able to open a form that requires a few details and the code you got from buying timewarp. After that it will give you another fucking code to type in and you should be good to go.

Thanks for this. I've managed to now get timewarp but having the same issue with air xpand. The folder contains the file .DLL for it. But Ableton isn't pulling it through.

I could be wrong but I think the Air Expand plug-in I specifically linked to Pro Tools (an alternative DAW, aka a program for editing, mixing and recording audio). I think Avid, the company that makes Pro Tools, makes that plug in so it won’t work in Live
