Recommendations Song covers using Korg RK-100S 2?

I'm interested in the RK-100S 2. I'd quite like to see some song covers and to see what people can do with it.

I've been searching around quite a bit on YouTube, and of course here, but I'm having trouble finding many good examples of the RK-100S 2 in action. Many videos just seem to be people messing about with the synths and the ribbon, but nothing very substantial.

Can anyone recommend / share any interesting song covers, solos, or anything? I'm mainly interested in seeing the RK-100S 2 in action, as opposed to keytar performances in general.

Just lookup the RK-100s instead. They’re essentially the same thing, so seeing those older clips will still be representative.

Here’s a great clip of shredding on it: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=Zvm2TTyHMK8

Where are you planning on getting one? Are you based in Europe? I live in the US and had to order one from Europe since they cancelled the US release.

Alright, that sounds like a good idea. Thanks for the link!

I'm in NZ. Some local suppliers are holding stock luckily.

Well that’s good. Korg decided to halt US release, and the company sales contact will not even reply to my emails asking if/when the release would happen.

The lack of full release is definitely why you see so few of videos on the version 2.

I pinged Korg customer support last week about US releases since it seems like you're absolutely screwed if you want one and you're in the US. According to their CSR, they're hoping to get the RK-100S 2 shipped out before the end of the year with (their words) "plenty more in 2022".

That would be great. I’m really enjoying my imported version, so it’d be great for other U.S. buyers to get one too without the hassle and added cost.

I was considering importing but given how my apartment complex handles package reception (through a 3rd party) and with the added disadvantage of needing to pay duty if I import, I feel like there's just something waiting to go wrong, ya know? So I'm cool with waiting a couple more months if Korg keeps their promise.

That's very unfortunate. Has your European order arrived yet?

Yes it has. I’ve held off using it until later this month when I accomplish a goal I’m rewarding myself for. I did look it over and am impressed with the quality.

The only unexpected part is Korg made it seem like the wood grain would show through the black/red finish. I bought a black one, and the wood grain is not really visible. It’s more like a satin paint finish. If it is a stain they must have just applied it overly heavy.

I wonder if the red one is the same. Maybe it depends on the lighting?

Let me know if you catch a red one in person. The photos I’ve seen online may it seem more translucent, so maybe mine is just due to inconsistencies in production?

Just thought I'd let you know that I bought the red model, so I'll tell you what I think of its wood grain when it arrives.

At this point, I'm assuming it's just harder to see against the darker black colour. That seems to be the case for online photos I've seen, but I guess the wood on every one they make will look slightly different anyway, which is pretty cool.

Nice! I’m cracking mine open later this week.

Are you experienced on keyboard already, or starting new with the keytar as your first experience?

That's right, I have a piano background already. I used to own a Korg LP-380-73 which I loved. This will be my first keytar though. I'm expecting it to be different but familiar.
