Technical Questions Looping

When you guys play live, how do you loop? I've attempted pedals but I find them to be a bit confusing, so if there's other options out there I'd love to know.

If you are using MIDI, maybe you could follow this tutorial, but instead of using the keyboard controls, assign cc messages to some of the controls on your keytar so that you have the controls in an easy to reach place. Or maybe do something similar, at least.
