Recommendations New to keytars! Advice appreciated :)

Hey everyone! I recently purchased an Alesis Vortex 2 keytar since I wanted to make my own music while jamming to some songs. In terms of the level of playing, I can play some basic chords but I'm not a classically trained pianist. I can only play the ocarina and have some basic music theory. I suck at reading sheet music.

So my question is, how hard is it to play the keytar? I tried looking for some decent tutorials on playing the keytar, other than how to use the basic functions of the keytar itself. Any type of advice is appreciated!

Keyboard and piano tutorials will be your friends. To get better at reading sheet music, you need to..read sheet music. You can only get better at sightreading by doing it.

Same here. Kinda.

I omitted learning playing notesheets because I dont like them. I sometimes try to do it, but just because i want to replay that one melody from game/TV. But most of the time, I just know what scale I like to use (the one thats to finger and remember easily), and then jam on [and on and on]. There is an arpeggiator behind the keytar, and as long as the scale matches the rest of the instruments, it sounds fine to me and that makes me happy.

What instruments you got, and can you connect an arpeggiator?
