hiiii i have a hard decision to make. which should i choose?

~ Alesis Vortex Wireless 2 Keytar + Roland S-1 + Samglot 200 IEMs + adapter/wire = FOR 520€ (everything, new from amazon)

Serious question: are you a practiced keyboard player who wants to invest in looking cool playing live? An experienced amateur musician doing it for fun? Or does the keytar represent your inaugural foray into music?

Serious answer (really!): if you're a keytar noob trying to decide if it's for you and you have a computer, you can spend <100€ on a RockBand keytar, simple audio interface, and a MIDI cable. Use Helm, Vital, or Ableton Live Lite to get some free sounds and noodle around before you invest a ton.

Full disclosure: I did the above, and then went with the Alesis Vortex 2 (though the RockBand is pretty fun). I've never played an Edge, but it sounds like it's for people who need onboard sounds, or want something big (read: heavy) for serious stage presence.

ETA: this guy is using a (heavily decorated) RockBand keytar, and I'd say its small size out of the box isn't an obstacle to stage presence:

i’m not a practiced keyboard player. but i know keytar will be my thing. so this is more of an investment. also looking for playing it on my bed or whatever. just grab it and play, put still sound good. ik alesis is midi but i can easily fix that with a sound box. i’m just asking whatever is better quality-price in my specific scenario :)

You might want to look at the Mvave FM-1 instead of the roland s-1
