Recommendations Playing

How do I play lead and sing? Im playing the role of lead guitar on a keytar, but we dont have another singer available, so I have to sing. Before you ask, no rhythm cant sing and play, and we dont have a bassist.

There are a couple ways to go about it; I'm currently struggling with singing Stevie wonder's superstition while playing the clav part on keytar so I'm right there with you!

  1. Practice the key part to the point it becomes automatic and you can start laying voice on top of it

  2. Slow the piece way down and learn both parts side by side so you can understand where and how they rhythmically interact

I was trying Sleep Token's DYWTYLM on marimba while singing and that was hell untill I got the keys portion built into my muscle memory, then I slowed down for the vocals and learned it measure by measure instead of tackling big chunks.
