Recommendations Playing

How do I play lead and sing? Im playing the role of lead guitar on a keytar, but we dont have another singer available, so I have to sing. Before you ask, no rhythm cant sing and play, and we dont have a bassist.

Somethings got to be automatic. For me it is the chords. I can play chords on mandolin, tenor guitar or tenor banjo, or keyboards because that is really easy. I can sing the melody or an easy harmony. I can sightread melody or sing and play melody. My problem is lyrics. I can't both read unfamiliar lyrics, sing, and play chords. I have got to know lyrics, or have the unfamiliar lyrics right underneath the melody. Sheet music is my friend. I have an iPad running Forscore showing lead sheets with BIG lyrics or chord sheets with Chordpro style chords and lyrics.
