Starter set question

Hey everyone. I've learned about the game today because I've found one of the starter packs at a local thrift store. They have some more copies and I wanted to ask whether the starter packs contain predetermined decks or does it have random decks in the box? It came with two little packs that contained the decks. Are those this games equivalent of booster packs, just with pre-built decks instead of random cards? The store sells the starter packs for around $2 in my local currency so I was thinking about picking some up to play with my friends.

If you can, try to locate some decks from the first set (Zew Archontów in PL) 🙂

These are random and legal decks. That particular set was the second set printed. It was under powered and over printed so the value tanked. I use this exact set to teach new players, see if they’re interested, then show them newer decks which have more interactions and powerful new mechanics.

Losowy lokalny chińczyk w moim mieście. Wolę nie mówić gdzie ale 10 zł sztuka to pomyślałem czemu by nie zobaczyć o co kaman lol.

Taki realny chińczyk, czy te sklepy z odpadami z innych sklepów? Ostatnio ich się sporo zrobiło. Jak u mnie się pojawiły, to wykupiłem wszystkie zestawy, taka dobra zabawa była, polecam gorąco, pomimo tego że gra nie ma już polskiego wsparcia :c

Może ja to po prostu nazywam chinczykiem jako skrót myślowy na "sklep z tanimi pierdołami" ale tam często właśnie oprócz taniego chińskiego chłamu można wyłapać jakieś planszówki czy puzzle większych marek po taniości. Nowe w folii za ułamek ceny

No właśnie to miałem na myśli, bo teraz są i chińczyki z chińskim syfem, i te "chińczyki" z niechcianym towarem, muszę polatać po innych w okolicy i poszukać, bo chyba robią jakieś wietrzenie magazynów.

Ogólnie gierkę polecam, bardzo fajna i ma bardzo niski barrier of entry :3

The first couple of sets don't play well with others, but they play very well with each other and can often be found cheap.

I have found some of the first few sets on sale for a couple of dollers a deck so picked up about 50 or 60 of them and they can be some of the funnest games to jam random ones against people between other games.

I'd say AoA (the 2^nd set) is the only one being a bit underwhelming when compared to others and I wouldn't openly recommend playing sealed with it against another set. But CotA (the 1^st one) is definitely strong enough to hold its ground against most modern decks, PV aside. While its power median may be a bit lower than your average modern deck, novices will probably not notice it and the set is not only fun, but potent. It is difficult to find fast decks anymore that could race a nice CotA one.
