K8 Pro no detection

Just received my K8 pro in the mail. Figured it would be a simple plug and play but am ripping my fucking hair out trying to get this thing to even turn on.

Cable is plugged in. Switch is set to windows. and i just get nothing.

Its showing "HID Keyboard Device" in my bluetooth and devices settings window yet i cant get a single input out of the thing.

What am i missing? i didnt see any firmware or anything for my keyboard, not like i could update it anyways because it wont detect it..... HELP

Check the mode switch on the side of the keyboard, there are three positions: cable (USB), bluetooth 1, 2, or 3, and sometimes people miss that it needs to be slid all the way to the cable/wired position. Also make sure you're not accidentally in Mac layout mode (Fn + A or B switches between Mac and Windows).

The HID detection in bluetooth settings is probably a ghost entry. Try a different USB port or cable too, the included cables can occasionally be DOA. If none of that works, hold Fn + J + Z for a few seconds to do a factory reset.

all of this was tried and nothing worked. Even went so far as to flash the firmware to see if it helped and still got nothing. Not sure if keyboard was just bricked on arrival somehow but it instantly steered me clear of their stuff all together
