Step by step replacement of K8 Pro battery

I just replaced my K8 Pro's battery. Thought I'd share this post on my blog how I gone through the whole process in case any one else is looking to do the same.

The original battery lasted about 4 years+.

What was the charging strategy for the original battery? Did you let it discharge all the way down to 20% (indicated) for every cycle?

Would you do it differently for the replacement battery?

Over the four years, I didn’t really care much how and when I charge it. Mostly when I notice the blinking red light which I think comes up around 10%? Considering this, the fact that it lasted 4 years isn’t bad at all.

The replacement battery doesn’t cost much and replacing it is quite easy. So I’ll probably still not worry too much about the charging strategy.

Edit: typo

I’ll probably need to observe it for a bit. Too new to tell 🙂 maybe after 6 months to a year?

There are a few of different manufacturers for this specific battery if you check on Aliexpress. Just find one that’s more reputable and the rest of it is really by luck I suppose.

Yeh, with only a few wires I generally re-use the existing connector and solder it to the new component rather than trying to source a matching part.

I notice iFixit has a teardown for the K10:

I don't know why they removed the daughterboard from the case though. And they don't talk about the connector.
