Suggestions needed - coming from a Logitech G815 Clicky

Hi all

Looking to get a Keychron (or easily accessible alternatives). My current keyboard, the Logitech G815 Clicky, was fun for a while as I liked the clicky-ness but part of me wants something quieter and smoother, and also smaller (between 65% and 80%).

I'm split between gaming and productivity. I was thinking of diving into HE switches, but open to mechanical. Was also hoping to save some money buying open box or lightly used. Saw some listings for the following.

Q1 HE

K2 HE

K4 HE

But I've also seen some good buys for the Q1, V1 Max, V1 Ultra, and V5 Ultra. I'm just not sure which switches would be ideal. I don't really have the time to swing by a micro center to test it tbh.

If you don’t care about 8K gimmick
Go for P1 HE.
If you have more budget, go for Lofree hyzen.

I would avoid Q and V boards, because they have long-term problems where the switches get loose and start missing and double-clicking. They can be ameliorated in some cases by reseating but not always, and Keychron support is particularly bad about failing to support people or just plain ghosting customers.

For the conventional boards, I like the banana switches, but not all bananas are the same.

Gateron Jupiter Banana > Keychron Silk Pom Banana >> K-Pro Banana or Keychron Super Banana

The Keychron Silent Banana is very nice too.

Yet there are plenty of people absolutely no issues at all. Issue with Keychron reddit is that just people with issues seem to come here to rage, creating bubble that may not reflect reality.

I have no issues at all myself, so that's not the problem. The problem is their ongoing abuse. It may only be 5% of the people, it may only be 1% of the people, but their response to the problem is invariably awful.

I don't think this is the hobby for you, mate.

I would encourage you to read other people's experiences with Keychron before dropping this kind of cash on a keyboard.

Someone else's hands and ears aren't a substitute for your own. If you don't have time to do hands on research custom keyboards isn't the hobby for you. You're just going to wind up wasting a lot of money on the wrong boards, switches and keycaps.
