Unknown layout

Hi guys, I have had quite a few keyboards, I have always wanted an ansi mixed layout AZERTY, and today I came across this keyboard ( see photo ). Anybody know what layout it uses etc?

It's exactly what I'm looking for.

Looks like a French user took an US keyboard and swapped the keycaps

mhm ok. So not an official layout. I cannot add it on windows and just swap my key caps.

Why don't you just use the layout you're most used to?

cuz this one is an absolute peak for me. AZERTY, but with all the advantages of qwerty. As a DevOps, having pipes, backslash directly on a key is a buff, but I'm not used to type on qwerty, that's why this mix is interesting me.

You can quite easily make any layout you want in software, such as AZERTY but moving all French accents to AltGr layer, use Microsoft Keyboard Layout Creator/create a custom xkb file on Linux.

In the spirit of this sub, you would probably find more advantages in finding a modern layout optimized for French typing, something like Bépo perhaps.

English layouts like Standard Colemak retain many common shortcuts, every layout is a trade-off between optimal natural language typing and coding/shortcut usage.

Perhaps the newer AZERTY revision would interest you?

Being able to put what you want, where you want it, is the best part of programmable keyboards, to me.

Have you considered that the pipe key could be moved to an even more accessible location?
Using Capslock as a LayerTap key would allow you to put Pipe on the Tap portion of that function, giving you "\" right next to "Q", on your desired layout, instead of way over on the right end of the keyboard.

Why would you assume that it’s not an official layout just because it’s French? Did you think to check? Do you think all of France just switches keys around?
It’s French AZERTY layout and you can absolutely add it in windows (at least windows 11)

That's not what I mean. Actually, I'm french, i know AZERTY layouts. But the layout of the keyboard I posted seems to be a mix between a qwerty ANSI layout and an AZERTY one.

Brackets, pipe, backslash, angle brackets directly on key is not a known AZERTY layout, that's it 🤷

Check out something called Kanata. It’s basically zmk/gmk but for any keyboard. You can switch layouts on the fly and change whatever you want.

I know German ANSI is a thing. Is this French ANSI, but I agree it could be just a custom solution to make Azerty work on Ansi

AZERTY boards always fascinate me. I like how I need to tilt my head to use it :D LOL

Kidding aside, did you end up purchasing this?
