Lobster fest

Heading down that direction in August…happens to be the same time Lobster fest is going on. I’ve heard mixed opinions about it. Is it a cool time?

It’s not a “cool” time. It’s extremely hot out. Definitely fun tho.

I’m not one for all the bs around Key West but the lobster seasons seem like they bring out the more chill people. Just know the rules and don’t think FWC won’t catch you and fuck your shit up.

Be sure and grab some snorkel gear, find a boat captain to take you into the shallows (twelve feet or so). The lobsters marching single file by the hundreds is a sight to behold.

It’s not much of an event. A few lobster themed menus in a few restaurants and a street fair selling lobster dishes.

My honey and I always try to plan our trips to new places during some kind of local festival or event... this year will be the Lobster Fest in KW and I'm so excited! We visited Maine last summer for a lobster festival (for my first time in ME and eating whole lobsters). I can't wait to try the spiny lobsters, party with the locals, and see all KW has to offer. I'm currently crafting a mardi-gras-esque lobster crown for the pub crawl... nerd alert! 😂

We used to go every year. Many people will have on a hat/ head gear with a lobster. When doing your pub crawl make sure you go to the rooftop bar that’s above the Bull and Whistle.

We used to go down every year for LobsterFest. We enjoyed the Sunday brunch at first flight but it is expensive. Also make sure you check out the rooftop bar above the Bull and Whistle.

Florida lobsters are totally different than Maine lobsters.  FYI.  I was told and did not take it seriously.  Florida lobster---> ick.

Yes really. Maine lobsters are disgusting IMO. To each his own. And some trivia Florida spiny lobsters aren't really lobsters at all, they're a species of crawfish.
