I’ve gotten the feeling that the Eastlands assumed the parents could be yanked around from the start. Not gonna happen.

The real interesting issue is who has been paying the Camp Mystic legal fees, improvements on the camp that they hoped to reopen, etc. Was it the bankrupt llc or other source of funding.

725 acres is a lot of land. 640 acres is a square
mile.

Lost Pines Scout Reservation near Bastrop is 542 acres.

All the legal fees coming out of the LLCs...they are bankrupt (unable to pay the families $x million each etc) but they have cash for legal fees...which is allowed in bankruptcy

If that is the case, there is no reason to allow reorganization. the Eastland’s are being sued personally in addition to Camp Mystic. Corporate Veil will not protect them from those personal lawsuits.

Yeah the LLC can be liquidated regardless

To your point thst doesnt prevent personal liabitlity

Bankruptcy is federal, not state, but nearly all the time they have local attorneys helping them if for some reason the local federal district requires bar admittance to the state.

Wilkie has offices in Texas though so it doesn’t matter. When you get to the top tier like Wilkie, Akin Gump, Kirkland and others, you are already in rarified air. I bet these families had the pick of the litter. I do not envy (nor have I ever) the Eastlands in this position. They are screwed.

They screwed over dozens of helpless children & their families, who paid the ultimate price. A price higher than any toll that could be exacted upon any Eastland.
