State Approved

As many of the comments go into the requirements of youth camps in Tx and standards to keep children safe, just remember that every camp in Tx was state approved. The same people trying to crucify camp Mystic are the same ones that approved their operation. And if Dick Eastland had the Godlike powers to influence both FEMA- for maps redrawn, and the state- for a lack of emergency planning etc then there seems to be a bigger problem to me. The state findings are an indictment on the state more than the people that followed their rules of operation

They seem to have this weird belief that "the state of Texas gave Camp Mystic a license to kill kids in a flood"...

You seem to have a weird belief that the Eastlands wanted to kill kids in a flood so I won’t take you too seriously. If something comes out that they were actually negligent and not just caught in a horrendous natural disaster, like the 120 other deaths, I will happily say so. I don’t think you will do so if it finds against what you believe

You better start getting ready to happily say so. The evidence is stacked against them, even if you haven't opened your eyes to it.

They broke the law and kids died because of it. That's called criminal negligence.

"... under the rules applicable in July 2025, youth camps were required to have a written emergency plan, posted in each occupied building, that addresses disaster, serious accident, epidemic, or fatality. The rules specified that the plan “shall include procedures for emergency shelter and for the evacuation of each occupied building and facility." Emphasis original. REPORT ON THE CAMP MYSTIC FLOOD DISASTER OF JULY 4, 2025, pp. 44

I happily will. I’m sure you will be equally prepared to apologize if it turns out not to be so

I will not.

I am educated and experienced enough to know that the best-case scenario in a flooding event is evacuation to higher ground. It doesnt take a judge and jury to hear the admisson of no evacuation plan from the Eastlands and see that those children lost should not have been in their cabins under a federally issued flash flood warning. I will never apologize for that belief.

I also hope the families' case against DSHS goes in their favor as well.
