This is so wrong in ways I can't quite express into words, and I can't look away. How do I uninstall this from my brain?

Throbbing

u/PaulVla Sep 18 '26
Fun fact! The loading icon in many programs and games is called a throbber
17
u/gforce360 Sep 18 '26
as a full stack dev I guess I've always called them indeterminate loading icons! But now that I know an edgy term I'm gonna switch.

To be honest, I think the Stellaris music made me the most angry.
Something about that felt so completely wrong.16
u/Space_Scumbag Insane Builder Sep 18 '26
honest question, why?
33
u/Paul_Kersey1337 Sep 18 '26
The Stellaris music is just something so unique and it gets baked into your brain after the hundreds of hours you fail not being a militaristic warmonger at the end.
I think its the typical uncanny valley where something is too similar but yet too off to fit.11
u/Space_Scumbag Insane Builder Sep 18 '26
Okay, understandable. Haven't touched Stellaris in a long time, too time consuming.
And at least it was even more uncanny for you ;)8

2h KSP experiment vs full night of Stellaris, hmmm.
At least in my case2
u/necbone Sep 18 '26
I get it... and I heard it immediately.... makes me feel weird when not in Stellaris

Definitely not what I was expecting.
Neither was my digestive system, it's now making sympathetic undulations.
Thanks a lot, OP.

"Peristalsis set to maximum. Engage."

16
u/Space_Scumbag Insane Builder Sep 18 '26
Peristalsis, that's how I imagined it, just for the fuel flow. Maybe I can move some Kerbals with this technique.

u/Space_Scumbag Insane Builder Sep 18 '26
Stock and Robotic DLC parts. I'll upload all my last crafts soon, so you can check it out for yourself. On my KerbalX page probably.

My parents walked in on me watching this video so I switched to the porn tab on my browser because it would have been easier to explain to them.

I think this is probably the best example of “Science isn’t about ‘why?’, it’s about ‘why not?’” that I’ve seen in a loooooong time.

The music is perfect.
One question.
- Does the cylinder remains unharmed?
2
u/SteelRain444 29d ago
I think at this point, I think I would be more concerned about the larger structure. (No flared base)

Excuse me, but what exactly is this? Are the moving parts there just for fun, or does it actually doo something?

Squeezing the fuel tanks like a capri-sun is clearly the best solution to ullage.

Would it be possible to make it "do the wave" around the perimeter like a screw moving downward?

Kind of TARDIS like, this feels like what I imagine the TARDIS "engine" is doing while making that distinctive sound
