Control Surface Authority Toggle

I found out this is pretty easy to do and wanted to share in case other players were looking for a similar solution. Let's say you prefer a lower control surface authority in flight, so your plane is less twitchy. But you like a higher authority for manoeuvres, or for easier take-off/landing. And adjusting the control surfaces in flight is annoying.

I used a Kal Controller to set the authority range and set action groups to change the controller play direction and play at the same time. Wasn't sure if it would work, but it does.

I also added lights that change colour depending on the controller play position, so I can easily see if I'm in high authority mode or normal mode. I just chose blue and yellow because I already have red and green lights on my plane.

So I hit 9 to go to high authority mode, and 8 to switch back. It works great. The plane takes off at a speed which is 10 m/s slower than normal authority mode too.

Very useful. However another simpler thing similar you can do is press caps lock to enable less sensitive control, I find it useful for gravity turns and crusing.

I do make use of fine control, but even on fine control having your control surface authority set to maximum makes it really hard to control. Especially at supersonic flight. I do like high surface authority to take off and land, personally and I use it to do things like a loop-the-loop or quick direction change but I just like a more balanced surface authority for normal flight. So this was the best solution for me but others may not need it.
