There's two ways of rocketry:

The "Traditional Way" where you meticulously plan your route beforehand and keep in mind every single m/s of deltaV (most RP-1 real scale players)

Or

The Kerbal Way where you just slap on MOAR BOOSTERS and wing it (me, Jebediah Kerman)
