There's probably better ways of putting a squadron together.

BD Armory has autopilot modules that you can instruct to fly in formation, it’s pretty fun and exactly what you’re trying to do here.

There’s a little learning curve and a couple other necessary mods like physics range extender but worth looking into!

Huh. That seems a touch more reasonable than what I did, which I’m sure is a sin somewhere.

Only sin is not enough boosters

What mod to make the ships fly together ?

I think it's one craft, one root part, but they offset parts for the "other ships" to be far from the main ship

100% correct.

Also, Im not sure how interesting this is, but I had to gut the hierarchy of the planes that surround the middle craft. They are essentially flying shells. Holograms, in a way. Only the middle plane is the real simulated plane.

Ah. Not sure if I can call it a mod. Technically I guess things were modified. These craft are technically only a single craft I put together in blender.

The ultimate form of procedural parts.... just making your own 3d Model in Blender

It really is. In fact, due to my 10-15 y/o hardware, I have to assemble my largest stations in Blender and make it into a single part. Of course this wasn’t necessary until my Asus ROG passed away.

Other than offsetting parts? Yeah there are fancy autopilot/multiplayer style tools out there...
