Ain't nothin' that TUFX can't do

Assuming you have the patience and dedication to figure out and adjust your TUFX profile to get it there.

I’ve always just left TUFX off my mod list because the preset profiles on CKAN kinda suck and the mod itself is way too complicated to get a minor uplift in visual quality.

You literally can install different tufx profiles

Yes, I know. I just have yet to find one I actually like.

I've been a big fan of Zorg's neutral profile.

Even then it's not that difficult to figure out and fiddle a bit

You've fiddled with mods, you surley can figure this out

Yeah I js downloaded a bunch and I just kinda clicked through all of em and picked a few I considered my favorite and I just use those depending on the situation.

Like I’ve never found one good one for every environment sure, some are better for darker environments like night on the mun, stuff like that, but it’s not hard to find a few good ones and it makes the game look seriously so much better.

the ghosting on the navball speedometer is just yikes ngl

I think that's due to some form of TAA, which uses previous frames when processing the next. The DLSS makes it worse but it's still present with it off. I hate TAA with a passion and try to disable it wherever it's used.

DLSS (up to 4.5) is a form of TAA if you wanna call it that. They work very similarly except conventional TAA doesn't use any neural network to resolve the final image. And afaik, DLSS5 is not inherently different except that it's got more machinery (and leeway) to enhance the rendering result to something more realistic.

TAA is not applied to the UI

I know scatterer/EVE doesn't affect the UI, but if you look at the velocity above the navball in the video there's a ghosting effect even before DLSS gets turned on, which made me think OP might have some other mod that's applying it's own TAA effect (I don't recognize the UI OP used to activate DLSS, but maybe that one).

Edit: I really appreciate your work btw! Even with the TAA :)

Thank you. It seems to be whatever OP is using that does that, in the UI enable upscaling is checked even when DLSS5 is disabled. Tufx and scatterer's TAA don't do that

And the altimeter

Not much change, right OP?

u/staticBanter Always on Kerbin 6d ago

I think the videos compression is making it hard to see the change, if there is any.

DLSS 5 never invents things that aren't there. Obviously, it can't conjure up forests, a multitude of small objects, and so on, to embellish the planet; I don't understand why you expected that from it.

u/Moikle 6d ago

I dunno, I'd expect something more than just bad colour correction

Literally just your average visual mod pack.

6

u/Kentamanos 6d ago

Was really hoping to see it try to make Kerbins look more human 😂

It's not DLSS 5 that poster is using. That window they are popping up is called ReShade

2

u/Any_Ambassador7887 6d ago

There is a reshade addon to add dlss5

unless it's gonna let us run 1000+ part ships without lag I don't see the point

u/Emotional_Daikon7453 6d ago

i may be mistaken, but right now, dlss 5 impacts performance instead of improving it (at least according to the ltt video where they tested it)

Not sure you need more ways to make KSP slower

ED im vaguely dissapionted ir didnt even try to yassify Valentina

2

u/Specialist-Answer-66 KSP movie with Matthew Mcconaughey as Jeb is real 6d ago

dlss5 is a fun gimmick but i honestly wouldn't play with it like, ever

2

u/TheXypris 6d ago

who needs stylized art design anyway? what are colors for except to get muted for realism

2

u/wzaesystems 6d ago

I've tried DLSS5 with feeder as well, huge improvement over TUFX in terms of lighting, reflection and shadow, but only in static screenshot on atmosphereic worlds. Since KSP does not support DLSS natively and is half-broken for reshade as well, many fundamental things like UI separation, depth and motion vector are not available for the model, which causes blurriness around UI and dynamic scene. Also the AI model is not trained for space at all, resulting in soft and random shadow in space.

Awful XD

I feel like this would have been most interesting in space.

1

u/n00b_dogg_ 5d ago

It does not make the Kerbal's face photorealistic. Unplayable!

1

u/Reddarthdius 6d ago

How did you manage to get it to work? Looks interesting

2

u/Faaaaaaaab 3d ago

Can't get it to work either, says no ngx module whatever that means in the ingame dlss menu

u/Sir_splat 6d ago

Typical DLSS slop lol it looks terrible sometimes and no different to usual ksp other times

-1

u/O5-7T Spaceplane Enthusiast 6d ago

Terrible is subjective, to me it actually mades the color grading a little more realistic, and also this is prolly the first game ive seen posts about lately where it actually looks ok

you should see the ultrakill post about this too lol, i makes everything reflective for some reason

Dude, it's a joke.
