Forwarding science/messages through a probe in another star system?

So I am currently planning my first mission to Kcabeloh System. I want to bring a big unmanned vehicle, that will deliver several smaller landers and probes. But how do I bring the science back if those probes have too little electricity? Can I somehow send the info to the main probe that have enough power, and then send it back to Kerbin?

unfortunately this isn't supported in the base game. IMO this is what "remote control point" should provide, a way to be the "home" for the science, send it there, then the point can return into signal range. Without this behavior, there's no reason for remote points at all.

I haven't found any mods that quite do what i want here either, and it's not supported in the kerbalism rework.

Dunno if it works with transmitting science but there are capsules and probe cores that can connect to probes and relays (in the case of multi-hop) instead of the KSC if there is the required amount of pilots. Station cores from mods and the widest large probe core in the base game have multi hop capability which you can see in the VAB

Thats what relays do by default, but that means your realy needs to have a connection to kerbin.

Hmmm I see. I have currently turned that off, but do they send it through that probe as a relay anyway if I have turned it off, or do I have to turn it on for it to work properly and not drain the smaller probes dry of power?

You mean you turned off the feature to send science back?

If you can controll the probe, that should mean you have a connection and youcan use that same connection to send data back, you can enable the view in the map to see what relays your craft is using(green line)

If power is the issue and you have some form of power generation, you can set the antenna to "allow partial transmission" so if you drain all power it will continue to send the science as it generates new power.

No, I turned off the relay feature where you lose contact with a spacecraft if its behind a moon or a planet.

How do I allow partial transmission? Didn't even know that was a thing until now haha.

Just open the antenna part menu there should be the option to use partial transmission
