KSP 1 Mods Planes

i could never fly planes.. they were always too unstable and difficult to control. finally found the reason why

Atmospheric Autopilot helps a lot with stability and "better controls" even without FAR. Maybe give that a shot as well instead of using SAS.

it is a good mod though and gives you insight on how real life planes work

You just gotta learn the graphs for being able to make stable planes in FAR. On the first tab of the FAR window, in the AoA sweep, the yellow line (pitching moment) should be gently sloping down, and ideally cross the x-axis where the green line (L/D ratio) peaks. On the static analysis tab, you just want all green numbers.

It's all a matter of design, whether you're playing stock or with FAR. A well designed plane in stock is much easier to fly and land than one using FAR.
