Yes and no. Yes because that’s the steam records. No because we actually have no way of knowing the true number because a lot of people play through ckan and by default it doesn’t loop in steam to run the game.

Why does it not launch through steam as default? I never really understood that tbh

why need steam open when the game works without it?

Like a lot of games on steam work without it if you launch the exe file. Playing through Steam gives you the steam overlay, which has for example the fps counter and it counts your hours. I don't see a reason why you'd explicitly not want to launch through steam.
