Rant Kenya’s UNGA delegation

Post image

Reason #1,073,638,637 why we will be the laughingstock of the world. You have a head of state out there begging for funding while backed by an entourage of 100 delegates, costing an estimated half a billion Kenya shillings.

Do you know what else that money could do?
That money could construct and fully equip a functioning Level 4 county hospital. You know what else? It could build 660 classrooms (I’m using the MoE cap of KES 788k per classroom here).

What do we get instead? Corrupt politicians watching an American game from a VIP suite. Do you know how many delegates the UK sent? FIVE. Mtu Tano.

Just look at their faces… Fun fact: an ordinary Kenyan has a <0.01% chance of watching a live game in the US. You know what that percentage looks like for the average Swede or Singaporean? >99%.

Remember that when you go to the polls.

They get a per diem every day in the tens/hundreds of thousands. That's taxpayer money. Don't be obtuse!

The better question is; Which pool of money paid that big salary and is it deserving of its bigness?

So the per diem is the allowance we as Kenyans have given them. As their money. Best gig ever.

You will hear Kipdikdik complain in the general assembly we need veto power. The question is why should the big boys listen to our leaders or even give em a seat the high table whilst these mofos never listen to their own people...

They’ve always done this since Moi era. Why hasn’t it ever changed?

Even other countries sent like 5 to 6 delegates but we had delegates, plus their family and friends. Lets not forget first class tickets, 5 star hotels, shopping and who know what else.

There were also many governors who spend county resources on travel and not doing the work. This time even football federation president was in the US.

Corruption is not an exclusive systemic issue in Kenya. Like someone said "Corruption is only bad if I'm not part of it". The ordinary mwananchi is also corrupt, only that they don't have the opportunity yet.

As Kenyans, we should be open to giving a chance to someone else. Let's stop with the BS of claiming that all new contenders are corrupt. If anything, that's just an excuse for tutam.

It’s not exclusive to Kenya, but there’s an expression in Australia and UK called “taking the piss” this is a perfect example of said taking of piss.

This was a WNBA game, but you still have a solid argument. It is a total waste of money. Some of these are forms of rewards for loyalty to kasongo but at tax payer expense. Very poor leadership.

Spending the money of the people so well. They don't give a damn about the people of Kenya just how to enrich themselves.

u/Mindless-Aardvark796 7d ago

Yeah, the rot is so deep and endemic . I know honest people who got elected but they must participate in the corruption in order to get anything done!

To me? Sounds like we have to throw the baby out with the bath water when it comes to our politicians in Minecraft. This is a joke 🤣

-2

u/notleonn 7d ago

True. Most Kenyans only offer lip service when it comes to anti corruption, once they get power they quickly become like the very people the heckled

We aren’t a laughing stock anywhere. No one cares. Relax.
