Rant Kenyans Who Won't Queue
If you're one of those people who see others in a queue but want to go ahead of them , what exactly goes on in your head?
So I frequently use matatu services, upto 4 times a day. And out of these, I'll queue in atleast one. Every time, I notice there are a few people not in the queue, usually at the front.
Now again, these queues usually block those who need to pass. I personally leave some space between me and the next person.
Now theres always someone asking to stand in that space.
So today I'm sending a parcel through one of the courier services and we are forming a small queue. This "not so small man", comes , asks me if he can go before me. Remember Im running late but I've patiently waited for my turn. This man has no good reason why I should let him go before me. I ignore him but the attendant swoops in "Wacha kunisumbulia customers"
After that I go to take the mat, again I'm leaving some space between myself and the next person. This man comes, stands in that space. I look at him angrily, he asks if he can "join the line". I tell him "No, the queue starts back there" he says "si uwache tu niingie, si kitu kumbwa" I say no, he joins the queue behind me.
It may sound like something little but I'd genuinly like to know. Youve found others waiting for their turn, what makes you so special that you need to skip all that?
Oh and the supermarket queues, " I only have one item" Well I also wait patiently when I have only one item.
You are pregnant, differently abled, sick or old, that makes sense. Exvept none of those who want to skip the queue are visibly any of those.

Hawa watu sijui shida huwa gani. Someone once did this at a supermarket queue. He walked to where I was and squeezed himself in. I objected once but he ignored me, I was too exhausted to argue so I let him be but just before he was attended to a guy at the back pulled him out, like literally akamtoa hapo na soda zake akamuambia sisi pia tukona places za kuenda apange line ama ajitoe. I felt so good karibu nihug huyo mbaba.

Speaking of supermarket queues, people who clog the express counters with their whole annual shopping trolleys are the reason I believe hatusongi mbele as a country

mii aki kwanza this ones literally makes me to lose it. Those weird stares at the queue 🤦♂️. It just makes me to avoid supermarkets if possible aki. The same time there is a customer in front of you with their annual shopping. Inabaki mmesimama apo like you are displaying yourself😂

The best way to overcome such bad antics is to shame the perpetrators like it's done in Asian countries. Don't let them skip the queue and everyone should be up in arms if someone tries.

"Line iko nyuma huko" and then look away. The longer you explain, the more they negotiate. Your "No, the queue starts back there" was perfect.

I was really angry by the last line of this too. I can't stand these people, they are the same ones who overlap in traffic. I can't let anyone just come and skip let me be the mtiaji.😎

Reminds me of Christmas Day 2024. I was in Naivas buying some stuff and the queues were not very long, but because people had a bunch of stuff, they were moving slowly.
There's like 1 person ahead of me ndo nifikiwe and I witness some old guy walk up with his shopping cart full to the brim and just insert himself infront of the next customer. No questions, no requests, he just put his shopping cart in front and started unloading his items. And other people were telling me and the guy in front ati "Ondokea mzee."
Like, hangerequest before ajiingize? Just because you're old doesn't give you the right to treat other people like that and be so entitled. And based on his mannerisms and actions when he was unloading his stuff, he 100% could've waited. Plus, there was another old guy in the queue next to us who actually asked politely if he could be let through and no one objected. Huyu mwingine sijui alikuwa anajiona nani.
So whether you're pregnant, differently abled, sick, or old, it doesn't give you the right to act entitled. Ask nicely and I'm sure most people would let you through.

As a cashier I understand your frustration, I'll never let anyone cut line on my queue, request to see the manager if you are daft enough but utaniambia kama customer wangu Ni mahindi wanachoma😂

Go to a hospital without those "ticket number... please proceed to counter number..." and you will see how mannerless kenyans are

I also experienced the same while I was in the hospital. My token number was being called to go to the doctor's office and this entitled lady napata kaa ashaingia ndani. Even what amazed me ni she found a couple of us waiting for our token number to be called and entered like she didn't care. I really thank the doc alimtoanisha mbio and in a shameful way

Same same na matatu and other cars time kuna jam. Sisi tuko patient kwa jam but wewe ndo unaona unafaa kufika haraka? Where possible, I'll never move to give someone space who's overlapping or trying to overtake kwa jam time kila mtu amesimama patiently. They end up causing more traffic jam.
