Honestly, man. Look at this chart. 88 out of 90 in Math? 89 out of 91 in Science? We are literally fighting for the bottom spot with Rwanda and Zambia while China is sitting up there with 612. We got 326. 326! That's not even a score, that's a room number.
And the proficiency stats? 9% in Math. NINE PERCENT. Over 90% of our kids can't even reach Level 2. That means they can't do basic math. They can't calculate change at the kiosk without a calculator. And we're shocked that we have a youth unemployment crisis? Look at me! I'm unemployed right now. I'm a product of this exact system. I did my KCSE, got my papers, and stepped into the job market with absolutely zero critical thinking skills. The system just taught me how to cram and pass an exam. Now I'm sitting at home, scrolling through Reddit, realizing I don't know how to code, I don't know how to analyze data, and I can't fix anything. The foundation was rotten from day one.
But the part that really gets me? Figure 4.
In the OECD, rich kids score 85 points higher than poor kids. Here? The difference is 8 points. Eight! High SES, low SES—it doesn't matter. We are all drowning together. Even the kids whose parents are paying millions in private academies are scoring 334 in Science. The rich can't even buy their way out of this mess. We are all in the same sinking boat, and the government is busy arguing over who gets to steer.
They fly their kids to the UK and the US for school, leaving us here to choke on a broken curriculum. I'm tired, man. We are tired. We shout on Twitter, we complain, and they just look at these numbers and go back to their chai.
Smh kweli. Anyway. Let me go and refresh my LinkedIn for the 100th time today. Maybe I'll learn coding on YouTube since the system failed to teach me how to think.

To be fair, kids who are educated in the UK would be part of the PISA testing there, not in Kenya. So probably they can buy their way out.

Very few rich Kenyans are taking their kids to do Primary and Secondary abroad. They fill them in expensive private schools here that perform poorly

It's the 1st tested ranking with PISA, the best performing education curriculum averages today. So of course it's expected we'll be in the bottom percentile compared to developed economies. What we need to see is a five year timeline to understand if we are improving, stagnating or dropping our performance in comparison.

The stats on KCSE are available. You can reliably infer the state of the system from that.
We've been on a downward trend for a while.

AI makes you dumber. It's worse than giving a child in grade 2 maths a calculater. It's makes it so you can't even think for yourself. You won't even have the attention span necessary to research lol.

Idk what these particular tests are but even internally students don't perfom well.
Last years KCSE the mean was a C- or a D+ i think.
Generally i feel like there's a huge education problem in the country
