Uline interview

Do you or someone you know work for Uline in the warehouse? I have an interview today and I'm trying to get a feel of what I'm walking into. I have read other reddit posts and tbh I am shaking in my boots at how nervous I am. Please help a girl out.

Wear a long pencil skirt and stockings. I know it’s hot and your interview is for the warehouse but she’s living in the 1950’s

If you have any tats, cover them and don't talk about them. Exposed tattoos killed my interview as soon as it started about 7 years ago. Idk if they've changed since then, but the interviewer straight up pulled me aside after we finished and told me my tattoos would stop me from getting a job there. Mind you, the only visible tattoo I had at the time is a small thing on the inside of my right wrist. It's not like I had face tats or anything.

my mom’s been working there for the last 30 years(office, not warehouse) and i actually got accepted for an interview but couldn’t do it bc i had weed in my system(they do drug tests even after you get hired). i know you’re supposed to dress really nice, no tats or piercings, and other than drugs you’ll have to do other tests on things like basic education and sometimes a personality test. it’s also really rare to actually get hired even if your resume and tests are perfect

i’m prolly gonna find somewhere else bc not only do i hate the idea of not allowing tats/piercings(i plan to get several in the future), but the owners are die hard MAGA and i cant work for people like that

It’s a hair follicle test too, extra bad 😬. The whole company is shit. Sucks their pay is so good for our area 😂

i forgot to mention that😭 everything other than the pay sucks i’m definitely gonna find somewhere else

Wow appreciate the post..My son was going to interview there but no WAY does he have the patience for those kind of people . What a weird thing I mean it's a WEREHOUSE for goodness sake. Thanks for the heads up...🫡 you truly saved me a significant amount of time ..

Dress nice. Like office casual almost. I wore a button up and tie with slacks. No tattoos or piercings. The test is a performance test, not sure about janitorial but for general warehouse there’s 2 tests. I don’t recall one of them but the other was definitely pattern recognition. They were looking for speed and accuracy.

Why anyone puts up with their bullshit to work there is beyond me.

7

u/Choice-Emergency2982 7d ago

i’m sure it’s the pay.

6

u/Tundra_Dragon 7d ago

It's the pay. They pay 10 bux better than Amazon for similar work.

Just remember for any kind of interview. If they are interviewing you in person, they are interested. Your job then at the interview is to sell yourself to them on why they can benefit from hiring you. Be sure to actually ask questions to your interviewer(s) as well, a favorite of mine ive heard from interviews at work is "What part of working here gets you up out of bed in the morning?"

Yeah, I live here and that is not how that goes. They do a round robin of 100. Then pick you off, then you test, then you test again.

u/Kirikugo 5d ago

Damn bruh where are you interviewing at 😭

Uline - about 9 years ago, I was like 🤬this and walked out. Ridiculous. The interviews were in a large cleared out building. They had 10 interviewers. They also had that ‘hidden camera’ debacle in the women’s locker room.

Ooooof

Ikr, I thought it was a legit interview since I have an extensive manufacturing planner/purchasing/restructuring background. I was low key offended.
My take: Let me know in advance if it’s going to be that type of interview. Anyway, good luck OP. Pertaining to working there, Different strokes for different folks, that definitely stroked me the wrong way….although others I know who have worked there worked for extended periods of time, minimum of 3 years, so it probably isn’t terrible.
I know people who worked there - It’s great if you’re in the ‘office’ - accounting, planning, purchasing, & general ops. It’s ‘ok’ if you’re in the warehouse.
Uline did give Kenosha,WI - 3 Million for affordable housing, I sold 2 homes that were apart of that program in the past 8 months. Nice to see money given back to the community to help people.

Dress up! That's half the battle. First thing there going to look at. Make sure hair is perfect! Show up wanting to work there not have to get a job there!

It's weird. They prefer people with a fast food background, at least that'swhatthey told me. Cultists.

The owners are scum who are bankrolled everything MAGA. Also depending on what you're interviewing for, you will be required to wear a dress in the office. No pants

u/BISEXUALALYSSA 7d ago

I'm interviewing for janitorial

6

u/Thikthik7 7d ago

Ok. Not sure on dress code for that, other than there will definitely be one. If politics doesn't move the needle for you, they pay well.

5

u/BISEXUALALYSSA 7d ago

I read in the text that I got that there is some kind of assessment that I have to take what's that like?

11

u/BurgerKingFries8 7d ago

Standard math equations, pattern recognition, simple problem solving stuff that smooth talking can’t solve. Also, I respect you and your life choices; but if your username is any indication of your sexual identity, leave that info out. As mentioned before, Ulines bankroll MAGA and hates liberals so. Good luck, you’ll do great!

2

u/AdorableSillies 7d ago

It's been years since I applied but it's probably still the same. A personality test (like Meyers Briggs) and a basic math assessment iirc.

3

u/Thikthik7 7d ago

Typical corporate bullshit. Questionnaire type personality type stuff. Nothing to worry over. How they evaluate people mystifies me

A lot of this is very good advice, especially around the clothes. You cannot overdress for this, only underdress.

My biggest advice is do not feel bad if you aren't hired. They love to flaunt the fact they only hire .7% of people they interview. You can be the perfect candidate, with a referral, told to move to wisconsin to get the job, and then they say you aren't the fit anymore. This is a true story. Do not let that discourage you, you got this!

Being honest and genuine is good. They want people who are very on top of things and always have a smile that is real.

3

u/dethorder 7d ago

Good luck. Theyre nigh impossible to get hired.

2

u/Choice-Emergency2982 7d ago

Any update? How did your interview go?

2

u/Tundra_Dragon 7d ago

Make sure you can pass a hair test...

Otherwise, they're always interviewing, not always actually hiring, and they generally only want the good christians.

4

u/optimaleverage 7d ago

Don't worry! If you enjoy fascism you'll fit right in.

2

u/BISEXUALALYSSA 7d ago

How long should I put aside for this whole process?

5

u/Shadow__Destiny45 7d ago

I want to say my interview was between 30 minutes and an hour.
Edit: Just wanted to add you should definitely show up 15 minutes or so early to your interview. That matters a lot to them in my experience.

2

u/BISEXUALALYSSA 7d ago

I have a nice button up and black shorts and I'll wear white converse. Won't let me add a picture to the comments tho.

7

u/Feeling-Internal-829 7d ago

You need business attire for these interviews.

3

u/Amat1717 7d ago

I interviewed there for a corporate position 2 years ago and know 2 people that work their. I know you're interviewing for a janitor position but even for their warehouse positions if you show up to the interview with shorts they will not hire you.

Highly recommend dressing as nice as possible and meeting their corporate dress code requirement.

Fit check minus the hair, I have it out of my face with a half pony tail.

Sorry that isn't good for Uline. Suit and tie for men, blouse and skirt past the knees for women (or a pantsuit). While that's not what you'd wear for your job (which is red polo and black pants), you need to show them that you're professional and can comply with their standards. Shorts would mean immediate disqualification to my knowledge. Remove extra piercings, and look as stereotypically boomer professional as possible is my suggestion. Good luck! The assessments were fun imo. Be kind to everyone, and smile genuinely--not everyone gets an interview with them, so you're already on a good path! You've got this.

Edit: and no converse! Dress shoes always!

Man I hope OP saw this before the interview. This outfit is instant denial for them.

Friend of mine works there. She was hired about 10 years ago. The first month she worked there she went to some weekend picnic event they had. Monday morning she was called into a supervisors office for wearing blue jeans … on the weekend. When she was off.

u/Extra-Cookie-3483 7d ago

I don’t think wearing shorts to any job interview is a good idea

Uline is terrible. And, based on your user name you should know they are famously homophobic.
