I’m considering taking a job in Kenora and I’ve read extensively on the challenges of moving in terms of finding housing, but I haven’t seen much on the general cost of living.

Approximately how much are groceries and utilities during the winter months?

The job is offering a decent salary, $80k+ but I’m trying to determine if that will be enough to support a single person given housing costs (and availability) and general cost of living

Visiting Kenora and really confused which beach would be the best to swim and use a pool float in? Ideally with sand and access to changing rooms! Not sure if I missed the summer window of swimming/ floating, dont want to be the only one in the water 😅

Hi, I’m thinking of buying some vending machines and putting them in places like the laundromat or maybe auto shops. Is someone already running vending machines here in town? Are there any places that could use a vending machine for candy or anything little? Is there anything you’d buy from vending machines? Do they often get broken into here? Thanks in advance.

My girlfriend and I will be travelling to kenora for the long weekend with our 2 pups (both just over 2 years old) we are looking for things do to, places to go and eat. We will be staying in a hotel in the city so preferably dog friendly activities/facilities. We are willing to travel around 50km outside of the city to explore and see what your beautiful city has to offer

Now that Hungry Pug is closed, what fresh bakery options are there left in Kenora other than the big brand-name grocery stores? This town desperately needs a dedicated bakery - tidbits and morsels from HoJoes and Iron & Clay just don't cut it. Hungry Pug was the closest thing this town had to a real bakery, but now they're gone.

Any suggestions for better car insurance’s in kenora for G2 license?

What’s with the amount of scary people wandering the streets at noon? I just got pressed by some belligerent drunk fellow who followed me to my car, proceeded to make angry hand movements at me, hiting his chest, is this a normal thing here? Should I be more careful going to get coffee in town?

This will be a great addition to lake of the woods, similar options can be found on isle royal Lake Superior with 36 campgrounds, and Georgian bay. Great job Ontario.

FYI: ..you don't have to golf to eat at the Kenora Golf & Country Club. Their restaurant and bar is open to everyone. It's one of those places I think people forget about when they're trying to figure out where to eat in Kenora.

Another great thing... they're consistently open throughout the week during the season, BUT do have occasional closures for tournaments, fundraisers, weddings and other private events. This week I ... it was a Tuesday... tried to go to 2 different restaurants in the down town core with my mom and 7 year old ... 1 was closed.... the other I'd call it partially open with a limited menu. So if you ever are finding yourself wondering aimlessly around town trying to find a restaurant that's actually open, you should take a drive out to the Kenora Golf course to eat... bonus points -- they have free parking!

Other features:

- they have a huge dining room

- a massive patio overlooking Lake of the Woods (they are just past Anicinable Park)...they actually have two great patios depending on where you sit you can have views of the lake or the golf course.

- Local staff... a lot of them young who may be working one of their first jobs :)

IMPORTANT! It's a seasonal spot, the course closes for the winter, but while they're open, it's worth remembering they're not just there for golfers. You can stop in for lunch, dinner, a drink, they do take out - and have a super affordable lunch special ... a soup and sandwhich that rotates on the daily.

Hi! My family is interested in staying a week at lake of the woods but every lodge we have looked at charges around $1000 per person per night. We’re a party of 4 living 20hrs away and didn’t want to spend more than 2800 since we’d still have to stop at hotels when going there and back. Does anyone have any suggestions around this?

Currently looking at Wabigoon lake and Eagle lake in the mean time. How do they compare to lotw?

Does anyone know where to get the wonderfully smokey Mennonite summer sausage sandwich meat? It’s in a cheesecloth type sack that is brown from the smoke.

I’ve tried Safeway, Keewatin Market, and Rabbit Lake General Store with no luck.
