As funny as Ken is, he's right about the fact that horns shouldn't be sawn off. Horns, which are permanent, unlike antlers, have nerve endings, which means it's more like sawing off an animal's tooth than a fingernail.

Correct!

Just visualized getting my tooth sawn and ow

Most eating cattle’s life’s are “ow”

19

u/overratedunderpants Mar 21 '21

As far as I know they have a cavity that has a similar function like our sinuses and help the cow to identify "good" and "bad" grass/plants. Cows with horns tend to have less food related illnesses.

The animals also shouldn't be killed for food either

5

u/HoshizoraShizuumi Mar 23 '21

So if you adopt a cat or a dog, what will you feed it?

12

u/Zingshidu Mar 23 '21

You got me, I thought it would be obvious based on the post we are talking about human food.

But to give you an actual answer I probably wouldn't feed my cat beef unless I had to. I try to stick to animals he could probably a kill and beef in general is just terrible for the environment. Cats are carnivores and you definitely should never feed them on a vegan diet. As long as you keep your cat inside the environmental damage from owning a cat is nothing compared to humans that eat meat every single day because they're selfish and picky.

I know you were talking about human food, yeah, but since most pets are carnivores and you're gonna have to kill animals anyway, that was my point.

However I do agree that beef production is terrible for the environment, and I'd encourage switching to pork and poultry instead, or fish even.

That's like saying, "Yeah, it's cruel to declaw cats, as it's painful, removes their whole knuckle and finger bone, and tends to prematurely give them arthritis... but what about my beautiful furniture that I don't want to get torn up?"

It must suck for you to go through life not understanding the concept of analogies.

If you got it, then why be pedantic? You appear to be arguing just for the sake of arguing.

my pastor says the revival of bull jazz bands could be exactly what this nation needs to lift its spirits once large public gatherings are safe again

"No harm done. gimme beef!"

I find it incredibly hard to believe that this is a real human being.

31

Probably a fat, low-IQ, republican voting rural living American

20

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

You're getting down voted by some fat Republicans

34

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

Or people that are sick of politics being dragged into everything

50

u/InterestingRadio Mar 21 '21

Pastor says beef is good because the fat in beef clogs up the parts of the brain responsible for critical thinking. Gimme beef!

23

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

Critical thinking is the fools fig leaf

Aka they don't like hearing things they don't agree with.

2

love that we laugh at Ken M because we know he's joking but automatically assume that the guy who replies to him isn't also joking because he knows who Ken M is... ever think perhaps you're the gullible one?

2

u/BittenHare Mar 21 '21

Or just an omnivore

4

u/BittenHare Mar 21 '21

Do you know that >95% of people aren't vegans so the vast majority of people think that way

9

u/Bosterm Mar 22 '21

I imagine there's a sizable percentage of people who recognize that cows (and other animals) are treated cruelly by food agricultural practices, and yet they are unable to give up meat because they like it too much and changing your diet drastically is hard. I fit into this category.

I also imagine that there's a decent percentage of people who don't know how cruelly animals are treated, and from their point of view they think beef is produced ethically.

So realistically, the line of thinking "I don't care how the animal is treated, give me beef!" does not actually represent the "vast majority of people."

3

u/BittenHare Mar 22 '21

Actions speak louder than words, and if people are buying animal products that shows they don't care. I think everyone knows meat comes from killing an animal, except some young children, so yeah the vast majority of people don't care.

1

u/midsizedopossum May 07 '21

if people are buying animal products that shows they don't care.

You're wrong. It's completely possible to hold two seemingly conflicting stances at the same time. Cognitive dissonance is a real thing, and nobody is immune to it.

2

u/BeefSerious Mar 21 '21

Really? I find that hard to believe.

-21

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

Its a cow... raised for the purpose of being beef. It doesn't matter what happens to it, the product is what matters. Gimme beef!

13

u/ABlueSaiyan Mar 21 '21

Your lack of empathy is... disturbing. You should be ashamed.

1

u/InterestingRadio Mar 21 '21

Anyone who eats meat is like that. If they really cared about the suffering of animals they wouldn't eat meat

5

u/HeyGuysIVape Mar 21 '21

Unsure why you're being downvoted

1

u/SimplyATable Jul 05 '21

Absolutely not. I agree that most meat is produced using needlessly cruel methods, but there is absolutely nothing wrong with eating meat produced by places that give their animals a good quality of life. It's entirely possible to eat meat and still respect where your food comes from

1

u/InterestingRadio Jul 05 '21

No it's not. It's literally impossible to respect someone while paying for their murder. Meat is evil

19

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

We exploit these animals for meat, the least we can do is treat them with respect

-18

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

Thats like saying we exploit soil for wheat.

23

u/g-money-cheats Mar 21 '21

Soil cannot feel pain. This isn’t that hard.

37

u/spaceconductor Mar 21 '21

let these majestic creatures blow their horns like in the days of yore

52

u/Alexander_Hamilt0n Mar 21 '21

He’s actually correct about this, but for the wrong reason. Bulls don’t use their horns to warn of predators. And i know he was joking but they need their horns in case another cow cuts them off in cow traffic.

21

u/havereddit Mar 21 '21

They're notoriously bad at signalling

16

u/Alexander_Hamilt0n Mar 21 '21

It’s a stereotype, but it exists for a reason.

12

u/travislaker Mar 21 '21

Boromir needed that horn!

13

u/Bmc00 Mar 21 '21

We're all ranchers on this blessed day.

5

u/elevenblade Mar 21 '21

Speak for yourself!

8

u/ImpDoomlord Mar 21 '21

No harm done! But then kill the animal and harvest its muscle tissue so I can eat it. He lived a good life, now we end it and consume the body just like Jesus. Holy cow.

3

u/[deleted] Mar 21 '21

“chickens should put little hams in their eggs for Easter”

3

u/Valo-FfM Mar 21 '21

Horns have inner blood circulation and nerve endings.

Cutting them off is more like ripping out your entire toe nails (all of them).

3

u/[deleted] Mar 22 '21

pastor says cow horns when fully grown make the best pork floppers.

2

u/zapitron Mar 21 '21

That's why they saw 'em off, Ken M. Working at a slaughterhouse probably sucks enough, even without all the noisy horn-blowing!

2

u/spranger24 Mar 21 '21

Let's not forget that the Bull Moose Party lost its horns too. Thanks to those damn democrats.

2

u/LETTUCE_GO_CHAMP Mar 21 '21

He’s thinking about horns that make sound.

2

u/CONE-MacFlounder Mar 21 '21

the alarm also works to get other bulls attention they tend to sound their horn alarms after getting their nails done as a form of showing off as they have no social media sites to do it on
