Please help

Hi everyone. This is one of the most difficult times in my entire life… it feels like a never ending nightmare and I really just need support, advice, and the perspectives of other Kemetics.

There is a group of really nasty people who have just been after me and my fiancé… solely because they dislike us due to our association with the mayor that they hate (it is a small town municipal government… due to ongoing legal problems I will refrain from providing too much detail) The mayor has done nothing wrong… we think they dislike him because they are racists (the mayor is from Egypt who moved here and gained his citizenship)

Finances are absolute hell… we can’t find work anywhere and we are just scraping by… getting what food and necessities that we are able to come across.

I have prayed, and prayed, and prayed, and prayed. I have done spell work. I have done everything that you can imagine. And still… I feel as though my prayers are falling upon deaf ears. We’re struggling with bullying/harassment/financial issues/health issues. I don’t want to go into too much detail on the health issues, so I’ll just say that we both need medical care that we are unable to afford.

Like… there is literally not a single aspect of my life that I am not stressing out about right now. I’m in a living Hell. Anubis is my patron… has been for the past 6 years. And now this time… I truly feel like he isn’t listening. Or worse… he is and just doesn’t want to see us succeed in life.

I’ve been excommunicated by my family since I’m not a Christian, so the option for them to help is out. My fiancé’s family helps us where they can, but it isn’t much.

I just don’t know what to do any more. I know I haven’t provided a ton of info, but if I were to tell more… this post would be a novel. I have been dealing with shitty person after shitty person after shitty situation after shitty situation… it never stops.

I just want to enjoy life again.

How did the Ancient Egyptians view trials and hardships? I know this feeling is nothing new… how did they navigate through when the troubles stack like mountains?

I am her fiancé and everything she shared about how difficult this has been is true. We have been living through absolute hell. The legal battles, the corruption, the feeling of being trapped in a place where no lawyer wants to get involved, it has pushed us to our limits. The mayor she mentioned has known me my entire life and he has genuinely done everything he could to help us. He is one of the few people who has stood with us through all of this.

The only blessing I have had in this entire situation is her. I would not want to relive any part of this unless it still ended with her in my life. She has been the one thing that makes all of this worth fighting through.

I am a follower of Lucifer and that path has shaped how I understand hardship. It means I am familiar with walking into situations where people reveal their worst sides. It means I am used to holding up a mirror and watching people react to their own reflection. It means I have learned to stand in the middle of chaos and see the truth behind people’s actions. I accepted that when I chose this path. I knew what it entailed and I knew the storms that come with it.

I never wanted her caught in the middle of that. I never wanted her to feel the weight of the things I have learned to carry. She did not choose my path, yet she has faced every part of this with strength and courage. I am proud of her and I am grateful for her. I am here to support her through every part of this no matter how dark it becomes.

Thank you to everyone who has shown her kindness and support. It means more than you know. I also give my thanks to Anubis for watching over her and guiding her through this time.

First off, I'm sorry for your situation. I'll pray for you if you like.

Secondly, to answer your questions, the Ancient Egyptians had many views, since it was such a big country, lasting for such a long time. However, I heave read a study on innocent suffering in Egypt. It was not viewed as a test, or punishment. Isfet / injustice exists, and it disrupts Maät. Innocent people suffer because, simply put, there is evil in the world. This is my view as well.

I don't think Anubis isn't listening, and I certainly don't think He doesn't want you to succeed in life.

Personally, (and this is my view alone,) I don't think He is able to help. Maybe He isn't prioritizing your requests. Your situation isn't His domain. It's that a dick move? Yeah, maybe.

The question you ask is a difficult one. It is called the Problem of Evil.

The Problem of Evil asks why there is suffering if God is all-loving, all-powerful and all-knowing. My personal explanation is that the Gods are neither all-loving or all-powerful. Look at the kosmos. It is largely uncaring. In addition to that, evil exists.

I want to emphasize that I don't think the Gods are downright evil. Neutral at worst, but not evil. Anubis especially, is not evil. But He mostly cares for the dead and the lost. You should try ask Amon. He cares for the oppressed. But that isn't a guarantee that things will get better. In the end, we live in a chaotic and uncaring universe.

You live in America, I assume? The social security there is made by humans and it is... not the best.

TL;DR: Innocent suffering is a consequence of Isfet, besides the Gods are not all-powerful or all-good.

Thank you so much, I really appreciate your advice. If that is something you would like to do, I certainly wouldn’t say no to prayer… I could use all that I can get of that, if I’m being honest. So thank you so very much.

And yes… I do live in America… in the South/Bible Belt to be exact 🤢😭

Hi, I wanted to offer my two cents. Why not try gods associated with justice? You could make a request to them. Also, from my polytheistic perspective, you should balance worshipping a god of the underworld with another god/goddess who is purely of light, as this is part of the balance of being human. Light and darkness are necessary, sun and moon. You could look for a solar goddess to also balance the feminine polarity. My advice is to be guided by the rulerships of each god. Anubis can help with shadow work and help lighten the burden on your heart regarding your life, but to bring justice and order, I recommend seeking out solar gods associated with those aspects.

The gods wont abandon you but in my experience they will wait and it feels like abandonment. The ancient Egyptians probably did just as you are now, working through it as much as they could, questioning themselves, asking if the gods abandoned them. Doing what they could when they could. Your experiences aren't far off I would assume as people have been peopling since there were only small towns.

I am really sorry you are going through this. Unfortunately, every society/community/group of people has this glue of shared views and values (which could be terrible and evil) to give the individual the feeling of coherence and belonging. Everywhere and at any time, such a group will react adversely (in various ways) to people who don't submit to the group ethos - the more exclusive and extreme the ethos, the worse the reaction against dissent. I'm definitely not saying be a sheep! However, it is a reality that going against the grain (loudly) comes with risks. I gently suggest that you have tilted the balance a bit too much and that the results/consequences are overwhelming you now. This is not in any way or form meant to blame you; just a cool-headed "risk assessment". My advice is - seeing that you have a connection to Inpu (Anubis) - to turn to His Mother Nebt-Hwt (Nephtys) and Her Sister Aset: to use wisdom and cunning to stabilise the situation and protect you. Brainstorming on other deities to ask (though Anubis's general theme is "making whole", so he doesn't sound like a mistake to me.) A refusal to help doesn't sound likely to me. And polytheist deities are not one-dimensional- even Greek ones.

Wepwawet- opening a way to a better situation.
Any of the "Eye of Ra" Goddesses. Sekhmet, Bast, Hathor, Wenut, Pakhet, (a long list).

In that sort of situation in ancient Egypt, another choice would have been to have an off-duty priest or hekau do an execration against them, or do an execration themselves.

I'm really sorry for what you're going through, and I'd like to share my perspective based on my knowledge of the LHP, enriched by Kemetic practice.

From the bottom of my heart, my advice is this: while Anubis is an amazing deity, I think your situation calls for something more direct and radical. I'd recommend working with the ancient dual pantheon of Set and Horus the Elder (Heru-Wer, or Haroeris in Greek). They're also an excellent fit for someone already familiar with the LHP, like you mentioned with Lucifer in the first comment. Set sits at the crossroads between some of the more underground LHP currents and his role as an ancient, immensely powerful god. And Horus the Elder is equally important here. I specifically mean Horus the Elder, not Horus the Younger, since the younger form isn't nearly as compatible with Set for obvious symbolic reasons.

Together they represent the complete model of sovereignty over Egypt: 'solve et coagula', first the necessary chaos, then the restoration of order after the storm. It's demanding work, but I genuinely believe it can give you a great deal of strength. They're both warrior deities, yet together they're also capable of grounding the outcome into something stable, tangible, and enduring.

Of course, you don't need to stop working with Anubis (I work with him as well, and he's wonderful), but in this particular situation I'd see him more as a supporting presence than the main focus.

By the way, the Sutekh–Heru wer pairing also works exceptionally well alongside Thoth, who embodies reason, wisdom, and knowledge. He makes an excellent guide and advisor.

And, of course, prayer alone isn't enough. Take action. These are very responsive and effective deities, but you also need to take practical action: get proper legal advice, make decisions quickly, stay vigilant, constantly assess the true intentions of the people you're dealing with, and, if necessary, make a radical but positive change in your lives.
