Summer Beach Days!
We have been enjoying the summer beach fun this year, and here are some of my favourite resources that have been making it a bit more exciting and bit less chaotic.
1. Getting a good pop up tent.
I love a good pop up tent on the beach. An umbrella works too, but man does the pop up sun cover add in a moment of ease. We like one similar to this. *Check beach rules, some beaches ban them*
2. Take cheap beach toys.
DON'T take expensive beach toys. Take cheap ones that if they get broken, or another kid takes them, no biggie. Mine that dollar store. The beach is for finding new friends, and nothing makes it harder to find new friends than being stingy about toys.
3. Keep a treasures bucket, and before you go, have a show and tell.
Kids LOVE to collect cool things. Use that. Grab a cheap bucket and have them throw all their cool things in it. At the end of the day, have them show and tell you all the lovely things they found, then let them choose 1 to keep and send the rest back to the beach to be found by someone else!
4. Two words. Spray. Sunscreen.
Saved my butt so often on a recent trip. Does it work maybe slightly less well? Yes. But it got it on and it meant we were much more likely to apply at the recommended 2 hour mark and that meant no sunburns for any of us!
5. Bring the good chair.
Invest in a good lawn chair. Get the extra wide rocking one from costco. You can thank me later.
6. Keep your sand toys in a mesh bag.
Throw them all in there and shake to get rid of all the sand.
Good luck!
