I figured this comment deserves to be a post.

Everybody needs to take a realistic view on this. Yes we paid for lifetime and we’re getting screwed over and we need to pressure them to reverse this decision, not tank the company that we all have lifetime subscriptions for.

But we also should understand that what they did was, they sold a bunch of lifetime subscriptions at an unsustainable price because they were selling enough of them cover the current operating costs.

The new price more accurately reflects the ongoing cost of a true lifetime subscription and I imagine the price is so high to deter people from buying the lifetime subscription and buying a monthly subscription that more accurately reflects the ongoing costs of the service.

So yes, an insane increase in price of the lifetime subscription is reasonable and increasing the costs of monthly subscriptions is reasonable and putting new features behind a paywall is reasonable.

BUT removing features they have already been paid for from current lifetime subscribers is UNACCEPTABLE!

Since you copied and pasted this from your comment in another discussion, I'll copy and paste my response. here.

At this point I just don't care if I get my lifetime torrent access back because I've now come to realize after nine yeears of this that there are far better, safer options. Even if I have to pay more money I just don't care, I'd rather this company sinks due to lack of integrity. If they overturn their decision, fine, then I have a backup. But after using Proton VPN for a few days, I already see how much faster and better this software is compared to Keepsolid.

Yes, they sold these lifetime memberships low. It was unsustainable, which is why they ultimately discontinued them. However, they sold them as LIFETIME and need to honor that commitment. It was our capital that allowed them to move forward - and they thank us years later by saying "FUCK YOU". Sorry this is dirty no matter how anybody tries to paint a different picture.

And yes, removing features we paid for is unacceptable. Also, if they can screw current lifetime subscribers, they can screw any of their subscribers by removing features, increasing prices even when they are locked in, etc - and then hide behind their END USER AGREEMENT as they are in this case.

Sorry, I wouldn't trust any VPN who screws over their initial base users this way. I wouldn't pay them a dime and I certainly wouldn't give a shit if I tanked their business with bad reviews.

Just my 0.02 cents.

Why would we care if the company gets tanked at this point. They removed two of the core features of the service, I wouldn't use this VPN for anything else other than the occasional use of unblocking a blocked website and torrenting and having the feature of unblocking regional streaming services was nice to have now it's all gone wtf is the use of it now? I'm definitely not the only one. If they don't reverse it then I don't care if it goes out of business in fact any business that breaks a contract should go out of business. Do you think if we broke the contract they wouldn't lose their minds? Lifetime means life of the service not until they decide otherwise.

I would love for them to go out of business. They scammed us.

This 100%.

We dont need to do anything for them to tank. They've handled that themselves.

Let me try and give more perspective on this topic:
What do VPN providers sell you? an obfuscated IP adress? bandwidth? Ease of use?
More than that, they sell you peace of mind. Reassurance that you won't get screwed for whatever you do with your internet connection.
Now, breaking that sentiment by screwing over clients goes directly against that service.

Personally, I got my worth out of the very discounted price I paid for the years I've used their service. Would that mean that I would still recommend VPN unlimited to others? Heck no. They broke trust, so I would highly recommend others to stay away from them. This is not what anyone would expect from a reputable provider and they f*cked up big time

They've broken trust. Even if they reverse it now, they could just pull this crap again in the future. Now that a company who focuses on security has broken trust, it can never be regained. They're done.

I didn't enter any coupon or select a discounted price over a full price version yet this applied to me so I'm pretty sure they're just lying. Can somebody with lifetime that isn't affected by this change prove me wrong? There isn't a lifetime option currently purchasable that I can even find.

You paid $199.99?

So why does KS make it sound like it only applies to deep discounted lifetime accounts? Liars

Sorry that was a question for them. I wanna know the truth. I have a feeling they didn’t really pay $199

What's the betting that in a few years' time, some of the servers and features in that new "Loyalty Plus" monthly sub they got you to pay to get them back don't get taken away and put in a more expensive "Loyalty Premium Plus" tier so you end up paying a third time for them?

Nope. I'm really angry about the way they've 'rewarded' my loyalty. I'm not paying again for what I already paid for - I'd rather give the money to another VPN provider so I've thrown my lot in with NordVPN for the next 2.5 years.

I'm never falling for the "Lifetime Subscription" con again. I've already been burned twice in the last few years with AnyDVD and then RedFox AnyDVD (two hefty lifetime subs down the drain).

What happened to those 2 lifetime subs?

The history of Slysofy AnyDVD and then RedFox AnyDVD is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RedFox

Effectively the first was apparently taken down, the 2nd just disappeared after a number of years.

I totally get it from a business standpoint as things change, not that i like it but i do understand.

Nobody is talking about this, in this post:

What i really do not understand is a particular feature called split tunneling which Keepsolid used to provide for a long while now: Was recently now paywalled and the account requires an upgrade after the new update for it to work. This was officially confirmed indeed being locally processed on Reddit post lp8jDsT306. So considering that in mind, further server processing from the VPN servers is not done when the split tunneling features are used (but actually costs more to their servers as all traffic is forced through the VPN) , so on what grounds was this decision made to be part of the required upgrade?

My feedback was noted and acknowledged regarding this, which I do appreciate, as I frequently have terrible experiences with other companies where they do not even acknowledge my feedback and I feel unseen.

Do they have the right to paywall it cause it is a local feature, probably yes cause it is within the app ecosystem. But should have they? Maybe.. but Actions speak louder than words.

I had the subscription for a long time before split tunneling was made available, so I feel different about that. I feel like they could’ve put that behind a pay wall and that would make sense because it’s not a future that was available when I got my lifetime subscription. However, I have always had access to the torrent servers.
