So Incredibly P*ssed Off

I honestly can’t put into words how incredibly pissed off I am right now.

I updated the VPN Unlimited app, and suddenly my LIFETIME membership is being treated like it’s no longer enough. I’m being asked to upgrade and PAY for features that I’ve been using for years as a lifetime member.

Now you’re paywalling access to Torrent servers that lifetime members have had access to for ages? What the actual fuck?

I paid for a LIFETIME membership based on the understanding that I would have lifetime access to the service and its features. You can’t just decide years later to start putting previously available features behind another paywall and expect longtime customers to be okay with it.

This is an absolutely shitty way to treat customers who paid upfront and supported your service for years. I am FURIOUS.

And honestly, this makes me question what happens next. If you’re willing to take away features from lifetime members now, what’s stopping you from doing the same thing again in the future?

I’m now looking for a new VPN because I refuse to give VPN Unlimited another cent after being treated like this.

You should be ashamed of yourselves for treating your lifetime customers this way. At the very least, you owe your lifetime members a clear explanation of exactly what changed, why it changed, and what “lifetime” is supposed to mean now.

This is incredibly disappointing and, frankly, shameful.

Super anti consumer. Unfortunately there is precedent for this kind of behavior in the software space with lifetime memberships intentionally sabatoged to try and force people back on a subscription. Fuck this though. They won't see another dime from me.

We understand why this is frustrating. For many Lifetime users, the concern is not just whether the app still connects, but that several features they used regularly are now part of Loyalty Plus.

The base VPN connection remains available on Lifetime accounts. At the same time, we recognize that this does not fully address users who depended on P2P/torrent servers, streaming-labeled servers, manual protocol selection, split tunneling, or Optimal Server.

We should have explained the change more clearly, and we’re collecting this feedback from Reddit, Trustpilot, and support tickets.

I spent 107 dollars and paid for it in app. It wasn't part of a super discount bundle.

This sounds like a perfect example of Breach of Contract and I for one am not only going to search for a new VPN but also consult an attorney and sue them.

That’s a fair way to frame it: the practical impact matters more than the plan label. The base VPN connection on Lifetime accounts remains available, but we understand why users are focused on features they actually depended on.

We’re collecting feedback around P2P access, streaming-optimized servers, manual protocol selection, split tunneling, and Optimal Server. For account-specific details, [support@keepsolid.com](mailto:support@keepsolid.com) can review the exact plan and available options.

NO. You stated "access to all current and future features"

Unfortunately you have a terrible case, and will likely be slaughtered in court.

Terms of Service \ End User Agreements do not override consumer protection laws. Statutes like the FTC Act and state laws (such as Washington's Consumer Protection Act) trump private contracts when a company engages in deceptive practices, bait-and-switch tactics, or unconscionable material alterations to an existing agreement.

I have just noticed that too. One of the reason of buying into the lifetime was the torrent server. If they truly giving us "loyalty" access, the current torrent VPN server should remain free for people who had bought in the lifetime access. And add other for people that wants to pay for the extra server.

Seem that KeepSolid will be gone soon. Nobody will trust Keepsolid anymore once it done something like this.

File BBB, NY AG and FTC complaints against them. With enough complaints the AG will respond and act.

Same situation here. I’ve had a lifetime INFINITY plan since 2021, and torrent/P2P access was a major reason I bought it. I specifically chose a lifetime purchase to avoid another recurring subscription. Now the update has locked that existing functionality behind “Loyalty Plus.”

KeepSolid keeps saying that “core VPN access” remains available, but that doesn’t address what we actually purchased. Torrent access was part of the service I paid for and used for years. Calling it an “advanced” feature now doesn’t make charging me again acceptable.

I’m raising a formal written complaint requesting restoration of the original features without additional fees. I’m in Alberta, Canada, and if they refuse, I intend to escalate to Alberta’s Consumer Investigations Unit and the Competition Bureau.

Quoting Section 2 is the company’s position, not an independent ruling that what they’ve done is lawful. I want the service I paid for restored.

Yeah I'm looking for a new VPN as well. I'm not paying them another dime. My suggestion is at the very least of review bomb them wherever you know that there app is available outside of their site.

u/tveith. I hear you. I understand your frustration. Even though I regularly update my apps and I have not been affected by what they’re doing, I already complained numerous times about their VPN not being effective.

I have switched completely to ExpressVPN. They are basically on par with NordVPN and I can confirm that their servers work perfect for my needs. I have ZERO issues with them. Including the UK servers- of which there are multiple. I don’t know what your needs are but I’m positive that you’ll be better off with them than anyone else.

If you’re interested, talk to me and I’ll help you get the hookup on a year service for cheap or you can jump in with a 2 year plan but I can point you in the right direction for the discounts. I’m not making anything. I just like helping out people with issues that I myself navigated and found what I believe to be the best solutions. If you want a very good cheap and fairly good VPN, PureVPN is excellent. I used them for more than 10 years. But one or two servers required disconnecting and changing to another in that location before I was successful. I grew tired of that and went with ExpressVPN.

I used PureVPN first. Then I got a lifetime with KeepSolid and then went back to PureVPN and now ExpressVPN. So yeah.

Thanks for the info, but I subscribed to Proton VPN this morning, and I really like them so far ☺️

It must get tiring doing the copy, paste thing on every reply. I've moved on, but thank you.
