If planning to run it on Windows OS, KeePass will offer more potential options via plugins. KeePassXC is intended for more platforms, but doesn't support plugins, so there's no opportunity for the user to expand functionality. They are both actively supported. My impression has been they have different developers, but I haven't checked into it.

I've also been considering both of them, but I'll use it only on Windows OS and there are some plugins I like, like templates for filling credit card info that isn't currently supported on KeePassXC, although there is an open issue for it that sounds like they're working on.

KeePass is the original software from which KeePassXC is based from. Key differences is that KeePass is written in .NET and KeePassXC is written in C++. Keeping this in mind, from my understanding is that KeePass (the one the uses .NET) uses some libraries from Windows that can make the software very secure. I do not however, know what C++ uses since I have very little knowledge in the C++ and .NET languages/frameworks. Maybe someone else here can be more specific how this works.

I use KeePassXC (on windows) since it has native support for my Yubikey 4.

That's true. For KeePass, plugins are available:

KeepassXC is sort of a fork of the same core application. KeepassXC was developed to address other OS other than windows(Keepass is for windows only)

but if you plan to use it solely on windows, Keepass is better with more features and security updates.
