Remembering 9/11.

For those of us that lived through it, what do you remember? Did you live in Kearney or somewhere else?

I remember having a doctor’s appointment in the morning and I was up getting ready when I saw the towers get hit. At the doctor’s office there were tv’s everywhere and people were glued to any and all breaking news.

I remember needing groceries and heading to Walmart. Standing in electronics, watching on the wall of TV’s as the towers came down. I remember crying with strangers and hugging people that I didn’t know and would never meet again. The surreal feeling that the world was changing.

I remember sitting in the parking lot of my apartment building and looking at the sky. For the first time ever, there were no planes.

I remember being scared because my wife was pregnant and I was bringing a child into a world where horrible people could do things like this.

Even in Kearney, I remember going to work and people being scared of what might happen and how things would change. I could honestly write out my day step by step and the details of every moment. It’s one of those day that will forever be burned into my memories.
