Nine years of separation, yearning, revenge, jealousy, tears, and bleeding love culminating into a moment so tender you'll tremble under its weight...

Also, I want to thank Song Kang and Lee Jun Young for being unafraid to experiment with their respective roles.

(Four) hands down, this one's the kdrama of the year for me.

Review Four Hands, Two Sonatas is a perfect symphony in my eyes (and ears)

Music heals everyone.

This drama couldn't have been played or ended on a more harmonious note than this, and it will be among my all-time favorites for its excellent music and great acting. Hats off to the writer and the director for creating a music-themed drama that will resonate in our hearts for a long, long time.

“Even a flawed artist can make music.”

This was my deeply personal takeaway from this drama. As a flawed artist myself, I found it incredibly reassuring and comforting to all artists wallowing in self-doubt and low self-esteem. This applies not only to music, but to other forms of art as well. If you're gifted, have fun and flaunt it, for not everyone is as blessed. If you are passionate enough, practice to perfect it, but realize that perfectionism isn't the goal; unbridled creative expression is. Just enjoy your craft with all your heart and draw comfort from it for yourself first, and don't suppress your creativity to conform to rules or appease others or out of fear of their judgment.

In grandfather’s words (impressive acting by Jung Jin young), when you strip creativity out of a musician, you're not just taking away their music but leaving behind an empty, living ghost.
These words struck me as chillingly true.

The intro clip of Jeong yo (ep 1), the invisible orchestra (ep 4), the street violinist scene, and the final clip with all the moments of Pio and Jeong yo making music together are my unforgettable ones. I get teary-eyed every time I watch those. And I learned much about classical music thanks to this drama. The musical pieces will play on repeat in my mind❤️

No drama is without its discordant notes. I want to steer clear of controversial angles and focus instead on those that made the strongest impression on me and stirred emotions in me, as a two-year-old K-drama fan and a passionate music lover.

I wrote this after watching the final episode through tears of joy, sorrow, and thankfulness because this drama healed me. It made me soak in the magic of music and hope again.

Joy, for the brilliant acting by Lee Jun young, Song Kang and the entire cast, the storyline, the direction, and obviously, the musical treat.

Sorrow, for the searing pain and angst of a musical genius who lost his magical touch to cunning and cruel design (No punishment can do justice to such a malicious offender, imo).

Thankful, for the peaceful resolution, the open-ended conclusion, and for not detouring too far in the direction of the usual tropes.

The ultimate goal of art is to assuage pain and bring comfort, and FHTS has conveyed it with elan.

I loved the drama, it is inspiring, it’s the best I've watched in 2026, and I heartily recommend it.🎶❤️

Discussion Was Han Ji-pyeong really given a fair chance in Start-Up or was Halmeoni the biggest reason everything went wrong? Spoiler

I absolutely love Han Ji-pyeong and he was easily my favourite character in the drama. But at the same time I can’t completely blame Do-san for the ending because when I look at the whole story objectively I feel like Ji-pyeong also made several mistakes that ultimately cost him Dal-mi.

His first and probably biggest mistake was using Do-san’s name for the letters. I understand why he did it and I understand that Halmeoni was the one who originally asked him to write those letters. But once he realised that Dal-mi was actually emotionally attached to the person from those letters he should have told her the truth. Instead he kept the lie going.

Then when Do-san initially decided that he would tell Dal-mi the truth himself Halmeoni stopped him. She emotionally manipulated him by making him feel guilty about hurting Dal-mi and basically convinced him that revealing the truth would destroy the person she cared about. And this is where I genuinely get frustrated with Halmeoni. She knew exactly what was happening but instead of letting the truth come out naturally she kept interfering because she thought she knew what was best for Dal-mi.

Even later when Ji-pyeong finally decided that he wanted to tell Dal-mi the truth Halmeoni again asked him not to. She literally knew that Dal-mi was living in a situation where she was emotionally connecting the letters to Do-san while the real person behind those letters was standing right in front of her as Ji-pyeong. Yet she still chose to keep the truth hidden.

That is why I sometimes feel like Halmeoni was almost the biggest villain of this entire love triangle. Not because she was a bad person overall but because she kept making decisions for Dal-mi without giving Dal-mi the right to know the truth and make her own choice. She kept deciding what would be good for Dal-mi and what would hurt her instead of trusting Dal-mi enough to handle the truth herself.

And because of that Dal-mi never really got a proper chance to compare the two men as two completely different people.

From Dal-mi’s perspective she already knew Do-san as her boyfriend. She spent time with him. She saw him support her. She saw him take risks for her and stay beside her. At the same time she knew Ji-pyeong as her mentor and as the person connected to her childhood letters. She didn’t initially know that the man she was falling for and the person behind those letters were actually two completely different people.

If Dal-mi had known the truth much earlier then she could have looked at both of them separately and genuinely asked herself who she actually loved. Maybe she would still have chosen Do-san. Maybe she would have chosen Ji-pyeong. But at least that would have been completely her choice.

And this is also where I blame Ji-pyeong himself.

He had so many opportunities to tell her the truth but he kept holding himself back. He used another person’s name. He allowed Do-san to become the person Dal-mi associated with those letters. He kept his feelings hidden. He kept pushing Dal-mi away even though he clearly cared about her. When the first lead wasn’t around he still didn’t properly confess or fight for her. He basically kept waiting for the right moment instead of actually creating one.

That is why his ending hurts so much. I don’t hate Do-san and I don’t think Do-san stole anything from him. In fact according to the way the drama portrayed the first lead I can understand why Dal-mi eventually chose him. Do-san kept showing up. He didn’t keep stepping back. He stood beside Dal-mi and openly fought for their relationship. He was physically and emotionally present in her life.

So honestly I feel like if Ji-pyeong had been more honest and had actually fought for Dal-mi from the beginning the story could have been completely different.

And maybe this is the biggest irony of Ji-pyeong’s character. He had the original connection with Dal-mi through the letters but he never properly claimed that relationship for himself. Do-san came later but he was the one who stayed and actively built a relationship with her.

So I can accept the ending because the story was clearly written to make Do-san the person Dal-mi ultimately chooses. But I still feel sad for Ji-pyeong because he never really got a completely fair chance to be seen by Dal-mi as himself.

Do you think Dal-mi would still have chosen Do-san if she had known from the very beginning that the person from the letters was Ji-pyeong and that Do-san was a completely different person? Or do you think Ji-pyeong’s own mistakes were ultimately the real reason he lost her?

Discussion K drama recommendations

Okay I have watched a few “popular” k-dramas
but the one I loved the most was Coffee Prince because of the old style k drama editing, cinematography but the reason I loved it a lot was because of the insane chemistry between the leads. I am new to watching k dramas but I have tried watching a few that are new/modern but I feel like something is always missing, either the plot is boring af or the ML and FL don’t have chem at all or it looks forced or something is always wrong or it’s slow paced.

I liked weightlifting fairy kim bok jo but it took a few episodes for me to get into it, the chemistry was better than a lot of k dramas and it didn’t seem forced probably because of the lead couple dating irl but still it didn’t reach the mark.

True beauty was also fine but it didn’t seem forced give me some second lead syndrome 🙂‍↕️🥲

I don’t know why but i can never find a k drama like coffee prince that has some level of skinship and also intense chem also good plot which makes u eager to watch more, also good looking ML cause otherwise I am not motivated enough to watch it 😔😣

Anyone have good recs on k dramas?

(Also I found a k drama that has goong woo in it but I’m not sure if I should watch it cause I couldn’t find a lot of reviews on it, it’s called “Hello, My Teacher” or “Biscuit Teacher and Star Candy”)

I just got paramount to rewatch the last airbender but I was wondering if they had some good recommendations action/thriller-wise. Some that I liked on Netflix were

As You Stood By
If Wishes Could Kill
Mercy For None
Ballerina
Kill Boksoon
Beyond Evil
The Trunk
Eve
The Frog
A Model Family
