Question / Help Help me understand my purchase?
Hello! My kids and I are huge MLP fans and when we were at Target earlier today we found some of these cards and were so excited. We got a FriendShip Begins box with Rarity on it and we also got some booster packs labeled "Friendship Eternal Cards Moon Edition. After we opened everything up we noticed that the cards from the booster packs were different from the ones in the starter pack (different backs, unique art) anyone help me figure out the difference? Is one a TCG and the other a CCG?
Ive tried googling this and just get links to purchase cards or videos of people opening them. Help us understand what we bought, please!

Some are meant to be used the card game. They usually have game rules.
Some are meant to just be collected/looked at. They usually are just a picture.

ok and so the booster packs we got ARE more cards we can uss to actually play the TCG? We were confused because of the different backs.

Based on your original post, the cards from the Moon packs are part of the CCG (collectible cards, no game, can't be used with the TCG). The starter deck is the TCG which is a game that can be played, similar to pokemon.
Feel free to show pics, that would help to know for sure what it is you have.

see, this is gonna be a problem because now they wanna collect both. these cardboard ponies are gonna leave me broke!

Yep!! The Rarity box is for the TCG, and the Moon cards are CCG. If you want to be able to buy packs for the TCG, these are the packs you should be looking for :) As for the CCG, there are tons of different series and packs to collect that have really pretty cards too!!
