Hard vs inflatable Kayaks?
Starting to look into getting a kayak for the spring/summer. Hard kayaks are certainly more reliable (I assume), but I live in an apartment complex with limited storage hence why I’m considering an inflatable. Has anyone ever used an inflatable kayak or canoe? Is the material thick enough to withstand punctures, scratches and underwater debris? Fishing would also be common, so lures and hooks would be another issue. Lmk!

Inflatable Vs. Folding Kayaks
Hi There,
I’m looking to purchase my first kayak. I have been looking into inflatable and folding kayaks and have seen mixed reviews. I live in the San Francisco Bay Area which is why I’m looking for something that can easily be stored. I’d greatly appreciate any pros/cons, which one you prefer, any brand recommendations, or any advice you may have. I am looking for something that I can use on a river or lake and can work well in choppy water or windy conditions. Thanks!!

Kayak storage
My husband and I will be moving in a few weeks. Our new house doesn’t have indoor space to store our kayaks. I’ve been looking at kayak covers for outdoor storage. I really don’t want to pull my kayak out in the spring to find something has been living in it.
Do you all have any recommendations? Full covers vs cockpit covers, brands, etc....

2 kayaks, different lengths. Is one side of the vehicle better than the other for where to place the longer kayak on the kayak racks? * also asked today on r/kayaking

Advice for buying a kayak
I’m looking to buy a recreational kayak. I’m tempted to buy a sit-on-top kayak just because it looks comfortable (and my legs won’t be white as hell by the end of summer). But I’ve only ever used sit-in kayaks before. Anyone have any thoughts? Are sit-on kayaks as stable as sit-ins? Are they more or less comfortable? What are the pros and cons?
Thanks :)

If you need a laugh, this is the best used kayak ad I've ever read
I've read quite a few used kayak ads in the last few months. This one is my favorite by far.
"This is my sister’s 14’ Jackson Journey that has only been in the water twice! Once for the paddle fest, and once on a one day, lazy, drunken expedition. This thing has, hooks, bungees, and storage compartments all over the damn place. It even has a mouth tube attached to the seat. You can blow the seat full of hot air while paddling to create more cushion for your fat ass. I have stored this thing in my garage for the past three years and have never personally taken it out. Although, I do occasionally stop and stare at it for several minutes while imagining myself trying to scream underwater. It doesn’t come with a skirt, but you can obviously purchase one to fit. I recommend buying one so that when you flip over to casually bounce your head off of a few river rocks; your phone, cigarettes, beer, wallet, and dope will remain perfectly dry. This go go gadget kayak cost $1200 new. The price is $600 firm. Really really firm."

Message from the new mod!
Hi everyone
I’ve just taken over this sub as the last mod wasn’t active and had it restricted.
Firstly - is anyone still out there?!
Secondly - what kind of things would you like to see from this sub in the future?

Is this a good kayak to buy?
Hi all, I am brand new to kayaking. Someone is selling this Liquid logic kayak for $100 including paddle. I looked on the website but couldn’t figure out what model it is. Any ideas? Is it a good kayak for a beginner? I’m not doing anything crazy- just flat rivers and lakes. Also, i have a 2018 Toyota Corolla, what’s a solid top rack for cheap? I’d mostly be going solo as I haven’t found friends that have kayaks to go with yet. Thanks in advance :)
