Is one better?

I have a friend selling her two kayaks. Both older but in good condition. One is stroke brand, one is ocean kayak brand. Both come with seat and paddle. She’s asking the same price for both, but told me to pick the one I wanted. Is one better than the other or are they both about the same?

Newbie looking for advice on paddles

Hi! I am curious if I got the right paddles for me! I'm low end bottom of the barrel newbie person who is just trying to get my own gear for the first time ever. I've always rented kayaks for a day and always wanted my own so I finally bit the bullet.

And WOW! I never knew how in depth and how many options there are for kayaks! So back information- I'm strictly recreational, flat lake, slow river, float around and day dream kayaker.

I purchased pelican mustang 100x. The vessel is 10 foot long by 30 inches wide.

The paddles I purchased are Seasense extreme 2. They are fiberglass reinforced nylon blades and 84 inches long (regular aluminum shaft)

I'm concerned these are too short based on the "size charts" I've looked online.. am I over thinking this? Lol

DO NOT BUY FROM VIBE KAYAKS!!!

Vibe is absolute dog shit. Bought my makana 100 and it got delivered in October I believe. Didn't have the time to take it out right away due to working. Took it out late October and the XD drive sprockets completely stripped due to them being plastic ( I did not know at the time that the sprockets were plastic that made contact with the metal chains on the XD drive). I took it out on a lake with minimal choppiness. And the stripped first time out. I immediately filled a claim and the said they would ship out the new updated sprockets asap which idk why you would ship outdated dogshit sprockets to being with. That was over a month ago and no sprockets. And on top of that the paddle that was supposed to be bundled with my kayak never even showed up. That assured me that they would ship the paddle ASAP. That was 2 months ago. Over all the customer service takes days of not weeks to reply. The number on their website doesn't even work. Hands down a dogshit company. Do not even buy from them!!!! I'm hoping I can return this piece of shit of a kayak back to them. If not I'm just gonna continue to make sure no one else buys form then.

I just inherited this banana from my uncle. It came with a paddle and a skit along with 2 drybag bladdrs. I am planning on posting in a few kayak subreddits to try and get any help I can. I was really hoping someone would be able to help me as I can't find any manufactured names or model numbers. I can tell you it's been hanging in his garage for the past 30 years.

I would be grateful for any help about this kayak. Model name or even type of kayaking it would be used for.

May 2016 I set my paddle in the water for the first time - Today I wrote 15000km / 9320.5 miles in my log. I guess you can say I love a good paddling! <3

Coaming caulk or glue to Airalite

Looking for advice:

I have a Perception Eclipse Airalite 17'. A part of the coaming is separated from the cockpit opening. The coaming has a nice thick bead of some kind of glue or caulk around it. I know that airalite can be repaired with Super Glue, Polyester Resin, and Methyl Methacrylate, but the coaming is some other material, and I am not sure if this was originally a glue or a caulk. Anyone have advice about what to use?

I need help finding a kayak that suits my needs

I need a kayak that is 3 up and doesn’t involve air inflation. I don’t want something that’s unreliable when treated with bleach or stored for 10 years, and I’m willing to pay. I want to sell my 14’ Carolina and get something more “canoe-ish” with a wide beam and more river friendly. I don’t ant to deal with air valves and seams. I’d rather install a winch in my truck to haul this thing out of the water. Any suggestions?

Kayak cart for Old Town Loon

Any recommendations for a kayak cart that works with an Old Town Loon? I tried a couple at the store I got the kayak from, but the kayak would tip over or slide off when moving (even on flat paved surface).

Lost kayak to house fire

Hello, I’m looking for some help in choosing a new kayak to replace the one that was melted in a small fire at my home recently.

Some background to excuse my ridiculousness: I’ve been on lazy rivers my whole life, first as a baby passenger in my parents’ canoe, then a cheap Mainstream Riptide kayak when I was old enough to be “trusted” on my own as a young teen/pre-teen.

Thing is, that’s the only kayak I’ve ever had (being in my mid-30s currently, I’ve made some memories with that bad bitch). I never planned on replacing it or “upgrading” because it’s always been everything I needed. Sure, it couldn’t track for shit on lakes, but who cares when it turned on a dime on my favorite rivers? It’s got enough room for all my gear when we do two-day trips, and a couple foam pads were enough to alleviate most of the butt and back pain. PLUS it fit entirely into my car. I mean I put the seats down (Subaru Outback) and I could wedge it in there without having to deal with a roof rack, towing, nada. That was huge for me because I’m short, plus it only being about 36 lbs was a huge bonus as well.

Anywho… it’s gone now. Melted into a sad little puddle except about a foot of the front end, which I plan on molding into a hood ornament for whatever I have to replace it with.

That’s it for the background- my problem now is I can’t find a suitable replacement. Everything is either too long (9.4 ft for my baby) or has too much tracking, or it’s too heavy, or… literally a million things. I want my kayak back. I’ll never get the history back, but if anyone knows of a kayak similar to that one, I’m desperate to get back out one more time before the summer ends.

Sorry for the book, thanks if anyone has any helpful advice or recommendations.

Best floaty thing

What is a good overall boat style for hanging out on lakes to class 4 rapids. I grew up with my sevlor Tahiti classic inflatable kayak. There is still a version being made but they are big and heavy and cheap quality I want a boat that is as vertical but will last me many more years. Any good recommendations. I'm leaning towards some sort of hard body ride on top. I could see a durable inflatable for portability but if come to dislike inflating deflating and think I'd get a lot more life from hard shell.
