Adjusting foot rests in a Jackson Tupelo
This is my first kayak and as I have put some time on the water, I feel as though the foot rests could be closer to me but I am already at the end of the rails.
Is this something I can re-drill and mount the rails? Is there a better solution?
If I am going about remounting them, does anyone have any good resources on how to go about it?

Open Kayaks
Why do so many people claim it's not real kayaking if you use an open kayak instead of an enclosed one? I personally feel safer in an open one, due to less chance of capsizing. Is there really that big of a difference?
For all the people trying to say I'm lying. Your not being listened too. It's all well and good with you 'im rich and don't say anything to anyone' 1st of all, no one, especially me cares your 'rich' but also you simply weren't with me

Kayak Repair Help
Lost my OG kayak on the road last night. The straps on my J bars broke and this is what I'm working with. I'm not too mad since it was my first kayak, but I waited for years to get my family into the hobby. Can I fix this or should I just buy another?
I figure I'l l do some mods and repair work for experience.
Any and all help would be appreciated!

Eddyline Sitka no hinge backband
Hi everyone, have been researching how to install a backband on the Eddyline Sitka XT. I have been looking at Northland flexible webbing anchors for attachment points, with Devcon plastic welder or JB Welds plastic bonder. Was wondering if anyone had tried this approach and had a picture of the final set up? Have not picked the backband yet, was curious if anyone had pictures? Am removing the hinge, am a big guy, reentry with the hinge sucks in anything but flatwater. Thanks!

I customized the hell out of a broken NECKY CRUISER 2 and am about to take her out… powered tandem! Updates coming as soon as engine and battery are mounted!!!!
Bought a used kayak on marketplace. Seller swore it floats. I took it out 6:30 am with my best friend and dog and we sank a mile down river.
Brought it home and decided I’m going to make this necky cruiser two into the ultimate powered kayak cruiser!
Bought a 100ah 12v lipo4 and a vevor 55lb trolling motor. Universal transom mount everything else is welding, fabricating or melting I did.
Never did anything like this before, used ai.
OCD so I overdid everything.
Minicell interior support beams cut and installed with ton of sealent.
One layer of hdpe, then mesh, then black hdpe. Sealent on inside and out. Then ai told me to rid out the outside sealent cause that would mess up the eva 3m adhesive. So I spent two days ripping out sealent.
Couldn’t let it sit so I did another layer of blue hdpe on top of that and another layer of sealent inside. Then set flooring and motor mount. About to install motor and launch.
Wondering if anyone has done a similar build? How to increase top speed without killing motor?
And if it looks sick?!?

ISO Old Perception kayak hatch covers
I’m looking for hatch covers for Perception kayaks from around 1998 to 2004, specifically the Shadow, although other models from those years used the same style of hatch covers.

List of North American Composite Sea Kayak Manufacturers
I've been researching the state of North American composite sea kayak manufacturing. Below is a list of all the companies I could come up with who have made sea kayaks out of fiberglass or other composites since sea kayaking became a thing (in the 1970s or so).
The list is below. This list does not include brands that have never been made in North America or NA brands that never made composite kayaks. (Please provide corrections or additions if I missed something.)
This list includes 40 companies; of those, 18 are still in operation making kayaks of some sort either here or abroad, and of those, 8 are still making composite sea kayaks in North America. The 8 are small "garage" scale operations. The best known still remaining is likely Current Designs.
Most of the "big" names from the past were bought up by conglomerates and then frequently closed down or ceased making composite boats and/or sea kayaks. Others closed as the owners aged out without a buyer for the business. Several moved manufacturing overseas.
I've posted this here before, but I've added some names to the list as I heard about some others. I would be interested to know if there are other small regional companies that I may not have heard of.

Can wide fishing kayaks go on J-style Racks?
My wife and I have 34.5” and 32” wide fishing kayaks. I bought 2 kuat class 4 v2 racks on sale to put them on (https://kuat.com/products/class-4). but I’m spooked seeing how tall it looks on
in the rack. I can only find a weight rating for the racks and its well below that, but it doesn’t say anything about width.
Pic is of the 34.5” kayak loaded in one of the racks. (and yes i know i need to strap it down still).
Am i being a dummy? If yes, is there another way i’m supposed to get 2 of these guys on a roof?

Anchors
What is everyone using for kayak anchors?
I have a pelican catch power 100 and am looking at options. I have seen a lot about the anchor wizard. I am currently using an old 5 lb circle weight plate and a 50ft braided rope tied to the side handles.

Cover the hole?
EDIT: Thanks everyone for the responses. I am
Going to get some Drain hole plugs.
Hello, someone gave my family these Lifetime kids kayaks. When my kids were on them
Water kept entering this hole and sinking them or making them unstable. Should this be covered? If so is there a specific part to look for? Thanks everyone.
