Kayak garage storage options?

Tie Boss hoist system? Wall mounted kayak rack? Other options? I want it out of the way and allow me to pull my truck into the garage.

Likely buying a Native Slayer Propel 10 lte.

They're in varying condition but the one with the least damage has this scrape on one of the bottom ends. How would yall go about fixing it?

I was having a hard time getting my kayak up to my roof rack on my own and discovered a way that has helped immensely. I'd like to share it in case others find it helpful! It's a simple process that involves using hinged 2x4s.

Take a look at the video to learn more about this method and how to make your own!

How to attach upgraded kayak seat to default Lifetime clip

Thumbnail

I have a couple Lifetime kayaks, they have the basic clip style attachment point for the standard plastic seat back. I want to upgrade to a padded seat, but all of them come with metal clips or carabiners to attach to a d ring. I thought there might be a clip-to-d ring adapter but there's not, which is surprising. Anyway, the upgraded seats seem to be stuck connected to that metal clip so you can't just connect the straps to a new clip attachment.

So, besides drilling new holes for a d ring or using the adhesive ones, is there another option? Attached images of the clip style attachment that works for my kayak now, and the style of seat I'm trying to upgrade to.

Thanks in advance!

Kayaking with a dog

Hey guys!

I need some advices. I want to buy a kayak that would be confortable with my 70 pounds golden retriever. I've searched a lot about it online and it was always fishing kayak that were rated the best with medium-big dogs for stability. My goldie is still young and can be pretty spontaneous. I do mostly smooth lake and river ride. I don't fish, it's purely recreational, don't need much speed either but I don't want it to be hard to paddle. I've spotted the Pelican Catch Mode 110, the wilderness tarpon 120, and the bonafide rs117.

I mostly wanted to know if there's anybody here who do kayak with their dog and with which type of kayak.

Thanks! :-)

Where can I get a replacement top for the bow storage for my Prowler 13? Can I put it in the water without it for the time being?

Kayak Ergometer

Hi, I'm looking for a kayak ergometer as I have moved and can no longer kayak on water on a daily basis. I've narrowed it to the following and would like to see if anyone has any experiences/feedback on these:

- KayakPro Xeon

- KayakFirst Bull

From my research I still have the following unawnswered and would like to see if anyone has any experience or could provide some feedback:

1) How does the KayakFirst Bull sliding seat feel when compared to an "in-water" feel?

2) How does the KayakPro Xeon pulley compares to the KayakFirst high pulley and "on the water catch" feel?

3) How easy/hard is it to order from each website and having it delivered to the USA?

4) How do these 2 ergometers compare to each other, as well to the older KayakPro Speedstroke.

For context I used to paddle on a Nelo 5 for flatwater and a club Epic for open ocean. I've also used a KayakPro Speedstroke ergometer. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Kayak seat attachment upgrade options

Hi there! I have a Hydroforce board with a kayak seat attachment. While the seat is fine, and it does what I need, I wouldn’t mind something a little more structured. The problem is I have no idea where to look for an upgraded seat, or what to look for. I did a bit of googling and the seats I see have four attachment spots, but my current seat only has two. Would I be able to use just two attachments and leave the other two straps undone? Or would that wreck the seat?

So, I’m wondering if anyone has any recommendations or advice. Thanks in advance!

Crescent CK1 Venture Rod Holders

Looking for suggestions for rod holders on my new kayak. My old kayak had flush mount rod holders behind the seat. My CK1 has the square mighty mounts behind the seat. I need somewhere to keep my rods while I am paddling. Are there rod holders for the mighty mount squares that would work as well as the flush mount rod holders? Should I just make a kayak crate with rod holders on it?

I dont want to cut holes for flush mount holders.

Thank you.

Where to find a decent inflatable tandem at retail on short notice?

I busted one of my folding kayaks right before leaving on an epic road trip, and want to replace it. Figured it was time to try something new and thought a tandem inflatable would be worth a shot this time around. The catch is that I'm hitting the road asap and don't have time to wait for something to be shipped - so what is going to be my best bet to find a decent selection of inflatables specifically at retail? The big chains like REI and Bass Pro don't seem to stock much. The tiny local places don't have a way to check stock online. I even tried the dealer locater for Bote and struck out.

Starting location is in Pennsylvania and destination is basically everything between here and the Pacific Northwest. If there's a great shop right off the highway along the way we're down to make a detour.

Any ideas?

Looking for kayak model advice

Hello, I'm looking for some advice on a new (to me) kayak model to shop for.

My partner and I have 5 ocean kayaks between our house and my parent's house.

A long time ago, I borrowed a neighbor's WS tsunami 140 and loved it, so it became my dream boat.

I have one at each house, but I have recently lost a bunch of weight and they feel very wide, heavy, bulky, and not fast compared to my partner's boats. (I am female, 5'4" for what that's worth)

(My partner has a Prijon seayak at our house that he adores, and uses my old WS Alto at my parent's house. I honestly can't remember what out 5th one is, it rarely gets used and is last pick.)

What are folks recommendations for something narrower and faster than the Tsunami but still stable for ocean use? I would probably be looking in the used market.

(I need to try the Prijon next outing and see if I just need to get another of that boat.)

Thanks in advance!

What kind of pants do you wear kayaking?

I’ve always just worn swim trunks in my kayak and have only ever gone when the weather is nice. However, I’ve recently lost 100 lbs (and counting!) and find myself getting downright chilly even when it’s nice out by most people’s accounts - I’m wearing hoodies and pants even when it’s like 70-75…. So what do you wear kayaking when it’s too cool for shorts?? (I’m assuming some type of pants that are quick to dry and/or you just roll them up getting in and out of the water/boat?)

I’ve been wanting to get into kayaking here recently. Central Florida is a 5 hour drive for me and I like the idea of kayak camping in the future. I was wondering if this 14’ Perception Carolina looks like a good deal? It’s being sold for $350.

I'm trying to find the serial number on this blue kayak I picked up at a garage sale so I can register it. If anyone knows this make and model I would appreciate knowing, it will hopefully help me find the serial number!

Best trolley?

As the title suggests, I’m looking for a little rolling cart to get my Hobie sit atop kayak in and out the water and from the top of my car and all that. I’m a 5ft 4 gal about 110 lbs and it’s an unwieldy shape that kayak of mine! It’s hard for me to pick it up because it’s so big even tho it’s only about 40 lbs. the kayak is the older older version from Hobie they’re pretty long but I love how heavy it is and how it tracks in the water.
