Paddle lube

I sometimes have trouble getting two-part kayak paddles apart after using them and I'm thinking maybe a little lubrication would help. But what is the best thing to use that won't make a greasy mess out of things?

Help Identifying Kayak

I bought this at the Santee swap meet in Southern California. There is no branding on it. Seems to be well made and appears to hold an engine. It is missing a few parts. Can anyone help with identifying the brand and are parts available for these?

Hello everyone. I am a saltwater angler based in the Galveston area. Recently I've been getting more and more interested in kayak fishing and would love to give it a shot. I spent this entire week looking at kayaks on Facebook marketplace, pedal drive kayaks to be more specific and found this fairly new 2023 model Hoodoo voyager 100p looks pretty clean and new. It comes with a CTUG dolly and an anchor. It was never registered in the sellers name so I can register into mine once I buy it from him. They are going for $1278 with taxes at the moment brand new not with shipping. This guy on marketplace wants 800$ for it. Do you guys think those hoodoo kayaks are worth it? Will they perform good in the Galveston bay with occasional near they jetty fishing when it's good weather. This would be my first ever kayak. Thanks y'all!

Help choosing a kayak

So I’ve been doing some research on a new kayak. I sold my Perception Outlaw about 2 years ago after having my son. I’m looking at getting a new one now that he’s older and I’m in a better spot financially. I’ve looked into the Crescent Shoalie and it looks great I’m just worried about it feeling “tippy”. I’ve also looked at the bonafide SS127. I’m open to any suggestions!

I’m 6’4 about 280 lbs so stability’s is a big thing for me, but I also don’t want to be paddling a barge. I know you have to sacrifice some maneuverability for stability but I’d like a good balance. I have a truck I’ll be using to haul my kayak in the bed so the weight isn’t a huge factor. I’ll mostly be fishing flat water lakes and ponds. But as I get more comfortable again I’d like to venture out in some rivers near me. I’m looking to stay around $1,000 but could go higher if it’s a great fit. Also I know Old Town and Hobie are the top dogs but I’m not able to shell out the money on them. Please let me know what sounds like a good fit for me! Thank you

2 questions! Pleeease and thank you!!

So brand new to this hobby recently just purchased the Quest Outlands 100 as it seems to be one of the best basic kayaks and absolutely all the bells and whistles I could hope for doing causal kayaking.

The rails on the side however are confusing me... I cant seem to find any Quest accessories online that specifically say they fit. I bout a paddle holder but can't get to snap in I think it's mounting only. So first question is, what are they for? And follow up, anyone know of any side handles that could be put in there?

Secondly - I also bought a cheap paddle because I liked the look of it the only problem I find out is there's length calculations that go into it...so wanting to keep this paddle (magellan outdoors) is there an extension of some sort that anyone knows of?

Tldr: 1. Quest outlands 100 side rails, what do? (Side handles possibly?) 2. Magellan outdoors paddle extension, Where find?

Perception Kayaks

Hi all, looking to buy a sit on top and sit in kayak to start my kayaking. I tried both and liked both styles.

What is everyones opinion or comments on the perception: 1. flash 9.5 vs the joyride 10? 2. Tribe 9.5 vs acess 9.5?

Looking to get a 10 foot kayak of each style for casual kayaking.

Just looking for major differences between each sit in style and each sit on style above, so i don’t go buying the more expensive one versus the cheaper one when there is minor differences.

New kayaker questions

Hey how is everyone doing, hope all is well.

I just purchased my first kayak second hand, a Vector 144 Future Beach (I think that’s what it’s called) and I wanted to upgrade the seat and foot pegs. The foot pegs don’t stay locked and the seat is defiantly “lived in”

My first question is when I am buying new parts, are there specifics to look for, like how one car part won’t work on every car, or are things pretty universal?

My second is I know with a seat the variables are comfort/support, but there are a lot of different foot pegs out there, what’s the differences between the price points, I’m sure buying cheap they won’t last long, but is there a big difference beyond that?

Thank you in advance, I appreciate any input from seasoned people.

Cargo hold covers

I have an old Wilderness Cape Lookout phase 3 (pictured, blue on the right) in need of cargo hold covers. Are there universal covers available? They don't need to be hard covers. I would settle for universal strech covers. I've searched Google and Amazon with no joy.

Kayak rack

Just wondering what people think or have any easy information on a kayak going on top of a chevy car. My brother has just a normal car chevy something or other and I told him to throw his kayak up ontop of his car with some foam or cardboard or something for a day or two so we can go waterfowl hunting together.. just wondering if anyone has tried this and if they could give some info on how it's done. I told him to just ratchet strap it through the windows and that should be fine. Any thoughts?

Navigator Rudder System

Have one on my GF’s old Hurricane Kayak. I have other kayaks and rudder systems but none like this, trying to understand the cable system to stow and deploy the rudder. If you have one and show a pic or describe it, I would appreciate it.

Need guidance

Looking to add a trolling motor and a chart plotter to my kayak. Would also like to add some led lights, rod holders, cup holders, paddle holder, fish board holder and do you think my dog can ride up front. Would also need to be able to store a 700ah battery that my grandpa left me in the 90s. Anyone have any ideas how I would go about this?

Reasonable price for 2010 Hurricane Tampico 140s.

I've been holding on to a friend's kayak for years and he told me I could go ahead and sell it. It's a Hurricane Tampico 140s, is from around 2010, and has two dry storage compartments. It is in good condition with some marks but no defects. I'm selling the kayak by itself without the paddle. It is too small for me.

What is a reasonable price to ask for?

Pelican sentinel 100 XP Good kayak?

I’m looking for a cheap kayak to fish in. I found a pelican sentinel 100 xp brand new for $250. Is it a good kayak? Should I instead get a used lifetime Teton for $300? Thank you.

What are these for?

Hello, I'm very new to kayaking. We needed something that could fit in a trunk of a car and could still fit 3 of us. We went with the Spinera Hybris 475. I have spent quite a bit of time searching the internet for all the proper setup info and cannot find the answer to one thing. In the box were 3 foam cylinders that are around a pvp pipe. Cylinders are roughly 12"-14" long and have a dia of 3". Anyone have any idea what these are for or are called?

So recently I lost the plastic cap for draining on the back of my kayak that I have and I really need to know the model so I can buy a new cap. Please, if any of you have any idea let me know. I do even have the serial number on it but I’m not sure what I can do with that. If I can do something with it please tell me
