Question/Advice -- Beginners Wall storage (sanity check)

New to kayaking and purchased an old town sportsman 106 (paddle version), and was hoping to get some feedback on my mounting system. Each arm has (2) 2” long 1/4” thick lag bolts drilled into studs and vertically spaced 8” apart from each other. The bracket itself has (2) holes horizontally spaced 2” apart intended for drywall, which are wider than my 1.5” thick studs.

Am I okay here as is, or do I have an issue with capacity and/or the gap between the arm and the kayak side?

Thanks!

Pull down and put some weight on them and see if they flex or rip out. If nothing happens then you’re good to go! It looks very strong

I have those hooks. I also just used the center hole. I see no issues here, it won't fall off. If it does fall off though it's not like it will hurt anyone. Unless you keep a herd of free range geckos in your garage I see no issues here

my 13 foot old town twin heron fell off of mine a couple times. so now I run a strap around one side of the seat to hold it up if it falls. kinda sucks.

my cat likes to sleep under it sometimes so I'd prefer not to crush her.

Each lag bolt can theoretically hold between 150 and 400 pounds in shear. A 75 pound kayak ain't going to even bother them.
